By using team aspects to Captain Marvel's, Kelly Thompson is showing readers not just her ability to deliver high quality storytelling, demonstrating a fantastic understanding of the character. She has also established herself as the type of writer that I would love to see take on the Avengers; how many time have the Avengers been in Carol's book and vice verse? I am not sure the book could commercially be re-packaged as "Consistent Captain Marvel, though it is fully descriptive and accurate. Another great issue! Read Full Review

Davila crafts some great visual thrills throughout the issue and there are not only great character moments, but some truly scary visuals that help emphasize the tension of the story. Read Full Review

Were halfway through this arc, and Thompson and Davila keep raising the stakes on our rescue party. The Brood are depicted as something more than just mindless eating machines, but a hive society, like they were originally depicted in Claremonts now classic Brood Saga, and its something I didnt realize I needed until now. Davilas take on the Brood was the perfect take for this arc. I cant wait to see how Thompson and Duggan finish this arc. Read Full Review

Captain Marvel #45 is solid but flawed latest chapter to the Revenge of the Brood storyline. The first half in particular has many instances of panels that come across as filler content. Its the second half of this issue where Captain Marvel #45 finds a strong flow of good character moments and strong action visuals. Read Full Review

Just to be clear, I'd probably give this a 9 or 9.5 but the rating before me had a 10 and I couldn't bring myself to pull down the average rating since I enjoyed this so much. It's hard to find a flaw in it actually. The pacing is just right, the characters are written well, the art is good. This continues to be my favorite series out right now. Just go start reading captain marvel. If I had any complaint, it's minor, and that the next issue is an xmen book which I don't normally get. Hardly a fault of this comic though.

Even if I didn't love the rest of the comic - and I do - as someone about to celebrate 15 years on the wagon, the bit where Carol realizes that even in her fantasies she's staying sober grabbed me so hard that this would qualify for a 9 on that alone

The big-picture plot hasn't really hooked me, but I don't think there's anything fundamentally wrong with it. And in this installment, it's boosted by a nice save-the-day moment for Gambit, some solid character insights for Carol, and consistently impressive art. Just a generally good comic.

I'm not really sure where this is going. It's been three issues already and it feels drawn out. This issue was one big battle scene with a reveal of the Brood empress at the end. There's really nothing to report here except that Remy is the real hero of the story as he cuts a chunk of his own leg off to free everyone. Otherwise not a lot happens. It's teased that some of them are impregnated, but we don't know who yet. The whole thing with Rogue is confusing. If she was reincarnated, it would be back on Earth. Yet Remy says that she could be on the ship. It doesn't make much sense.
