To be honest, I think enjoyment of this comic comes down to whether you like "What If" style tales that mash together two different kinds of heroes. Every feature in Avengers Forever #1 save for Reyes and the Deathlok accompanying him takes two or more familiar Marvel concepts and jams them together. Read Full Review

Avengers Forever #1 a challenging proposal. As is the case with offshoots that are part of larger runs and aren't technically standalone, this issue assumes you've read not just Avengers #50 but Aaron's entire run up until now. I've read most of it, and even I found myself getting a little confused as I worked through the issue. Read Full Review

Where have all the new ideas gone? Marvel used to be known as the House of Ideas; has the comic book world become so jaded that one idea becomes the norm for a range of publishers? If it is the case that one idea can spread across the aisles, then the last one to the party has to be doing it better than the last and despite all the grand ideas and epic stylings, I am not sure that this book meets that criteria. Avengers Forever #1 wants to be big, but the formula here feels too familiar to get me excited. Everything looks great, but overall, this was a disappointing start to a book I wanted to love but barely even liked. Avengers Forever #1 feels like a been there, done that, sort of story. It doesn't deliver a start that hooks the reader to bring them back for more. It's a start that has a good idea but never delivers any new aspects that really stand out. Like so many “multiverse” stories that are now on the market, it takes a formula these comics deliver and little more. It's clearly leading to a major event down the line but I'm not sure this is the series that'll really make it an exciting one. Read Full Review

It's hard to identify who Avengers Forever #1 is for. It's not for fans of the original and there isn't a large contingent of Aaron Avengers fans out there. It's not bad, just thoroughly average, which is a huge problem for a new book. Maybe it'll get better, but the first issue doesn't make a huge argument for its existence. Read Full Review

If you are a fan of Iron Man and need to read everything he is in then I would recommend this one. Also Ghost Rider seems to be front and centre in this one right from the start. Read Full Review

Without reading Avengers #750, some of the main plot points are confusing or misunderstood. Hopefully, as a companion to the main Avengers series, the two will allow the overall event to build up coherently. Read Full Review

I actually liked this one better than Avengers 51. It was fun and enjoyable. Kuder never disappoints and his art is fantastic and well detailed. Keiths's colors were nice too and infused the art well. For now I'm parked here and I already have my expectations at a 3 with Aaron so we can only go up.

Robbie Reyes continues to shine as Jason Aaron puts him front and center in an “Old-Man Logan” style apocalyptic setting, allowing him to reach his darkest and most violent limits. Tony Stark’s new digs are very much a different name for the same flavor, but it works well enough to intrigue and steadily build the mystery of the ancient powers. Mostly, we are left wondering how all those cover characters will ever fit into this series.

What if variant Avengers got stuck in a Dethklok video? Impeccably drawn, with prose carved straight from a giant block of cheese. Hope is *literally* a curse word? Oy. Guiltiest of guilty pleasures.

I was joking these days about Jason Aaron saying that basically lately all he's doing is just picking up successful Marvel events from the past to catch people's eyes and trying to prop up his pet characters. Heroes Reborn? Sure, let's do Heroes Reborn even though his version was awful. Avengers Forever by Busier? Sure, let's do Avengers Forever. And I was joking that one of these days he's going to copy the Infinity Gauntlet with Robbie Reyes wielding it. Well, I was close. The first issue here is basically about Tony Stark as Ant-Man and Robbie Reyes being this awesome force of nature. Now I should add I like Robbie Reyes, I liked him in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., I like his car, it's just funny that Aaron is so predictable these days. And b onus points, he brought those boring Daughters of the Hammer too at the end, like anyone ever cared about them. Overall though, this isn't bad, it's ok, I guess. more

I quite enjoy the daughters of the hammer and was happy to see them again... I always find it strange reading comments that are assuming ones views are the same as everyone else's. It's seems reasonable to use the phrase "I never cared about them" but completely bonkers to me to use a phrase like "like anyone ever cared about them". Hubris, perhaps?

Most people don't care about them, it's the truth. You're the first guy ever I met on the internet who thought these characters were great. So yeah, if the overall response is bad towards some characters, it's not wrong to awesome no one cares about them. It's not hubris, it's just a matter of majority opinion vs. minority opinion. If you want to get technical, you could say I'm wrong when I use that phrase but you know it's an expression so yeah, I am right about this even if you disagree.

I'm just exhausted with alternate mashup versions of characters. DC's multiple reboot versions, pre-Crisis, pre-Flashpoint, new 52, etc. etc. just wore me down over time to the point where I just didn't care, and now Marvel's getting me to the same point with this stuff. What if Tony Stark were Ant-Man? What if the Hulk had the Starbrand but lived in one million BC? What if there were new versions of Ghost Rider every 50 years? bleh
