Avengers #33 tells the tale of the Twilight Courts survival and how they rediscovered their heroic roots. Obviously, the comic is well-written and makes good use of the art to do its best showing the Twilight Court in their lowest moment before finding their heroic spirits again. Plot This issue shows the Twilight Court's return after the betrayal of their creator, Myrddin/Kang. Arthur promises them that they will bring justice to the heroes they were created as copies of: the Avengers. This issue reveals more of Kang's plans and continues to connect with the Timeless comics, highlighting that the cause of Impossible City is a Tribulation Event. This chapter does not yet connect with the battle between the Avengers and Kang, in which the Twilight Court will intervene, as seen in issue #32. Art It includes many textures that blur the details but also highlight the anatomy and epic poses, as well as a dreamlike feel characteristic of flashbacks. Summary The story of the Twilight Court's return is told.

I enjoyed this issue. As a longtime reader, I was surprised to learn the secret of the Impossible City/Camelot. Without spoilers, McKay brought back a concept from Busiek's run on the Avengers. I also like the Twilight Court, but I was hoping to get more of their characterizations that we got from earlier issues, the various love triangles, the angst, etc. I enjoy a good time paradox, too. The Avengers had the Impossible City before it became Camelot, but after the Twilight Court lost it to the Ashen Combine. Timey Wimey Wibbly Wobbly Stuff! I am a fan of McKay's run. I like his Avengers lineup, but I think it's fun to pull the focus away from the book and give it to the villains (like Kang), and the anti-heroes (like the Twilight C ourt). P.S. I'd still love to see Cap (Steve Rogers), the Wasp (Janet Van Dyne), She-Hulk (Jennifer Walters), Quicksilver (Pietro Maximoff), or Hawkeye (Clint Barton or Kate Bishop) guest star sometime soon (McKay writes a terrific Steve Rogers, and my favorite arc was the pinch-hitters from "Blood Hunt"). more

I'm legit mindblown, this run losses me more and more. I was so excited for this big story, that was promised for like 25 issues by now. I understand what the story is saying, it establishes a link between the avengers and the court and how the impossible city is bassicly meant to be their ship, but why? what does it accomplish in the long run? They were meant to be the avengers and bassicly became them, which is triumphant on paper, but also it feels underdeveloped because their struggle is told in words and in fast forwarding. And it's a whole issue of it. It's both stale, not fluid and long. So we establish this complex cycle in an issue about characters that are very underdeveloped in a story that was supposed to big and grandiose, t hat we've been waiting for, but it is so terribly paced that losses all its juice and momentum. This is a fail for me. Maybe we will see the conection, maybe the avengers will win because of the city, which in turn would be because of the court, which in turn would be because of the avengers. So in turn to be a team player in defined role makes for a better society i guess? idk it feels like grasping at straws by now. This story is lost in its complexity, i hope that next issue would make things make more sense at least. more

I‘m probably old fashioned, but when I read an Avengers book, I want the Avengers in it. The story of the Twilight Court is interesting, but John Byrne would have told it in two pages. At least the book has some good art.
