On Comics Ground - Marcus Freeman
Nov 14, 2018The Avengers celebrate 700 issues with a bang. Jason Aaron, Ed McGuinness, and David Marquez hit home runs when it comes to story, action, and art. Highlights of this issue include a triple threat match between the Avengers, Defenders of the Deep, and Winter Guard. Lingering plot threads are highlighted including what happened to Loki and the prehistoric Avengers. General Ross has recruited his own team of heroes in response to T'Challa being appointed chairperson of the Avengers, and now the Avengers have more problems than a rampaging Namor. Read Full Review

Nov 14, 2018Marvel's been doing a pretty good job with their milestone issues lately. AVENGERS #10/#700 is no exception. This issue uses every page to its advantage, telling an interesting story, building more into the fictional world, and just being downright fun to read. Read Full Review

Nov 13, 2018Rather than chase after fleeting headlines, Jason Aaron and company prove to be much more responsible in Avengers #700, using this anniversary issue to tell a large-scale story with an insane number of characters. The result is, by and large, a good old-fashioned superhero beat-down that eschews flashiness and instead earns its bombastic beats. There's a lot going on with Earth's Mightiest Heroes in this issue, but this issue never feels overstuffed or overproduced. Instead, Aaron and a who's who of talented artists celebrate the Avengers the best way they can " not by throwing readers a stunt, by telling a quality story that stands on its own. Read Full Review

Nov 14, 2018For the occasion, Avengers #700 is packed with a longer story and three backup stories. While the backups are future plotlines being set up, the main story s great and continues the ongoing Namor arc. The art is good, with multiple artists and styles throughout the issue.
