TRANSFORMERS #3 elevates the action and the danger to humans when the warring Transformers and armed civilians create a flashfire of destruction. Johnsons edgier take on the Transformers gives the scenario a grounded, dramatic feel, and Johnsons art is action-packed. That said, the plot lacks substance after three issues. Read Full Review

This was an equally annoying and exhilarating read. Optimuss fight with Skywarp was a lot of fun. Im happy they didnt kill him off (yet). He is, after all, my favorite Decepticon. I guess the running joke now is that since they killed Bumblebee and Cliffjumper has kind of taken his spot, Cliffjumper is just going to keep getting blasted around and will stand right back up like Wile E. Coyote? Its an interesting little joke, but I really hope they dont make this into a Kenny thing. Give that little guy a break! As I mentioned above, the issue is also annoying, simply because these damn humans keep interfering and keep trying to kill the wrong Cybertronian! Come on people! Hes trying to save your lives! Transformers #3 takes the shocking ending of the previous issue to deliver an excellent, emotionally charged third chapter to this series. The conflicts in this story are escalating at a natural pace with the humans brought in ways that add layers to the Autobots vs Decepticons war. The ending creates even more weight to what happens next, setting up 2024 to be even bigger for the Energon Universe. Read Full Review

All I’ll say is make sure your pages aren’t stuck together for this issue. Like any great arc, the writer surprises by somehow continuing to simply outdo themselves again and again.

Optimus beating Skywarp with his own torn off arm is not a sentence I thought I would ever create but it was amazing. A perfect splash page. This book has some amazing moments that you could show to people 20 years in the past or future and they would all respond the same "Awesome". The action is near perfect in this book. I do rage at the humans and their stupidity but the decepticons literally call out and laugh at how stupid they are. All that being said, you have a bunch of small town weirdos hyped up on guns, shooting anything that looks different. Can't say that doesn't happen in real life. Great issue. This series in on fire and DWJ once again proves why he is one of the modern day all stars in comics.

I would never anticipate that Transformers would be the book I look forward to the most every month. Between DWJ's art style and writing he manages to blend a lot of things I don't care about into a beautiful and heartfelt story. Not the biggest Transformers fan, hate wrestling but put those together with a new, fairly dark take on Transformers that is so genuine it makes me invested into the deeper aspects. Such a great book by such a great creator.

You really can't get a new series off to a better start than these first couple of issues. Only 2 in and this is one of the hottest books around. I feared the slow dull slice of life Transformers IDW gave us killed Transformers in comics for good. But the action and excitement I remember from Marvel, Dreamwave and those weekday afternoons in the 1980s are here again. Thank you Daniel Warren Johnson. Keep up the good work, please. Every issue of this series leaves me eager for the next.

If you had told me a few months ago that I would be THIS into Transformers, I would have never believed you. However, thanks to the outstanding writer/artist that is Daniel Warren Johnson, here we are. The story was interesting and well written. Plus, of course, his art was absolutely fantastic here. Optimus Prime hitting a Burning Hammer of all things was truly insane and I couldn't believe my eyes. Johnson can work on any book and get me invested.

Optimus Prime rips off his damaged arm, and uses it to beat up a bad guy. that is so cool and badass. I wasnt really a fan of Transformers, and this is my first time reading Transformers comic. But I liked this due to great human characters, gritty art, and the story.

This series continues to impress. Daniel Warren Johnson is an excellent storyteller, and this issue is gold. His page layouts are creative and interesting. The action flows so smoothly from panel to panel, it is a pleasure to read. There are 2 double page spreads in this issue, and they are fantastic. Mike Spicer's colors are great, too. The story doesn't move much in this issue, but we get some good character moments with Sparky and Carly - both are given a chance to shine. Skywarp is actually chilling as the main villain in this issue. We get to see Prime in action, and it is cinematic and spectacular. This issue is great. Highly recommend it.
