This series caught me totally by surprise if I am honest. The mix of cute dogs and tense and scary situations wouldn't normally float my boat; Yet Fleecs, Forstner and crew have delivered a book that has made me laugh, gasp, smile and cry. Forstner delivers some beautiful art throughout this issue. The animation style of the art was always disarming and brilliant considering the subject matter, but the final issue manages to keep the charm of the character design while mixing in some exciting and suspenseful imagery. 'Stray Dogs' ends as only it could. It's a satisfying conclusion to one of the most riveting comics of 2021. As we know from the movie All Dogs Go To Heaven and let's hope that one day Forstner shows Earl, Victor and the other canine victims playing in their final reward. It's a very satisfying conclusion and if you don't put the comic down at the end and pat your own dog immediately perhaps you are as much of a monster as Master? Read Full Review

Stray Dogs #5 is a solid ending to the series. It wraps things up nicely with an emotional rollercoaster that at times tugs at heartstrings. But, the issue doesn't quite stand on its own. It feels like returning to a film “after the break” and in ways is a little unsatisfying as a stand alone issue. Yes, it's part of a single story but it's a single story broken up in issues and in this case the issue itself feels a little thin. But, it works so well as part of the whole. If you haven't read the single issues, it's a story that sticks the landing and will be a collection that's well worth picking up when released. Read Full Review

Stray Dogs #5 is a nail-biter right to the end, especially if you are a dog lover. The dogs are sympathetic and heroic without ever losing their dogginess. The ending is well-crafted and doesn't cheat the story. Even better, there is a hint of a new Stray Dogs book to come in the future. Read Full Review

This book surprised me drastically. The art style is very Disney-esque, some wonderful drawings that make it seem like it would be a reasonable pick up for younger readers (It isn't!) However I think that charm is what makes the darker moments seem mortifying. Imagine watching 101 Dalmatians, but instead of the wholesome happy ending, the owners were killed and not all of the dogs make it out alive. This issue finishes off the story wonderfully, the suspense built over the few months finally has its conclusion, after thinking of the countless directions this could have gone, the writers hit home and leave a positive note in the readers mind.

OH gods! I hate this book, the subject may be interesting but I don't have the stomach to read it, it is a book with art for children and a rugged subject such as the mistreatment of animals. I feel sick. Maybe I'm being unfair, maybe I shouldn't have touched this comic, but I can't give more rate , not when I have rescued animals of monsters who burn them, beat them or throw them from a third story by falling on the roof of a car.
