Nov 18, 2025I think Redcoat issue 15 is probably tied as the best issue in the series so far, tied with the exceptional issue 7. Although a relatively relaxed and breezy issue, feeling more like a resting point to catch our breath and revel in the mundane for a short while, it also manages to deliver heavy emotional weight and payoff to readers who have followed the story so far, while also hinting at the future and not revealing too much of its deck. You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff
Nov 11, 2025The authenticity and the genuineness of the emotion feels infectious. Anyone with a modern view of history is going to know that there were people who are suffering like you would not believe just outside of the center of the panel. But that's not really where the center of the story lies. This is a story of heroes of history. And so it's going to have more of a heroic note to it. It's going to sanitize things just a little bit. And that's perfectly OK because it's totally consistent with what they're bringing to the page. It's just almost a little too nice to feel totally comfortable. Read Full Review

Plot Simon Pure lives as a tailor's assistant in 1909. He now calls himself Simon Plum and has left behind his adventures in his red coat and nights of revelry and drinking. Although his immortality remains a constant, it's a secret from his family, because Simon has settled down. He has a wife named Margaret, a daughter named May, and a son named Albert. His life is routine and peaceful, finally what Simon sought. However, he worries about his continued immortality and wants to try to fix it before time betrays him. This was a feel-good issue. Just an enjoyable little slice of life intro to Simon's "happy" phase. I enjoyed this one a lot.

Not much is going on, but at the same time a lot going on. A lot of set up. And damn, this is the calm before the storm. Looking forward to the next issue.
