This is the first issue of the new arc in this story, and it delivers. Finally in Lewistown and receiving help almost feels like a new hope will arise. But, between Tariqs own skepticism, the uncertainty of who Ash Arden truly is, and the volatility of Junkyard Joe we are in for one hell of a ride, and Geoff Johns is the perfect conductor for said ride. GEIGER #11 brings Tariq to the end of his long journey, but the answer he's looking for is far from the one he wanted. Geoff Johns delivers a dramatic, weighty issue that looks all the more impressive, thanks to Gary Frank's cinematic art. Plot In Lewistown the mysterious female leader of the gang gives them access to Junkyard Joe with an unconscious Geiger, Nate, Barney and Zig Zag. The leader is called ASHLEY ARDEN, the legendary Ash Arden also called the Shining Woman, she learned to control her powers. In this bunker, Geiger receives DTPA in his blood, a chemical that makes blood less radioactive. Geiger, seeing himself being treated as a patient again, stands up angrily and tries to leave with Barney and leave Nate, Zig Zag and Junkyard Joe behind, but again loses his powers and explodes. Ash Arden again takes him to receive DTPA, Geiger understands that maybe this is his cure, not completely but at least he has the possibility of controlling his power without the Boron rods. Ash and Geiger have the same boron bars, because both were treated by Doctor Andrei Molotov, but with it this scientist used the name Pyoth Petrov, who passed away some time ago. On the other hand, the engineer who created Junkyard Joe, The Custodian follows the trail of his robot with toxic levels of obsession, he is very close to reaching Ash Arden's lair. The Custodian has an alliance and secret plan with President Griffin. Art Gary Frank and Brad Anderson achieve the perfect balance of highly detailed and organic art with clear colors that hide nothing. Each panel of each page is mesmerizing, every time you look at it you get new and incredible details. Rob Leigh's lettering is an explosion of onomatopoeic adrenaline. Summary Geiger begins to receive the treatment from Ash Arden that will allow him to control his power, while Junkyard Joe is in the Custodian's sights. more

I'm having some minor issues with this issue. Tariq's hostile reaction to Ash Arden feels like coming out of nowhere. Plus, I've had difficulties making sense of the Junkyard Joe scene. It looked like a flashback to me because of the people and the car. At the end, it became clear that the scene took place in Arden's camp in the present, but since there was no visual reference before (except for the dog, which I didn't notice), I mistook it as some street in the past before the war. Gary Frank could have avoided this confusion by showing us the inside of the camp. Then, there's the Zebra still. Anyway, those are minor things, and since the book is generally beyond 10 when Frank draws it, I still give it a 10.

Geiger continues to remain solid. It's always a reliable good read. I do hope Tariq becomes less stubborn. I get it's his trait, but I'd eventually like to see some development.

Solid issue. Art and writing were good.
