The Terminator #1

Its an interesting opening. The basic premise of the original feature film is so amazingly simple that it could be stretched and prodded in a million different directions. It really wouldnt be much difficulty and that it really be a matter of making sure that everything comes together in just the right way. So theres a whole bunch of different ways that standalone stories could work with the premise. It will be interesting to see how this series works as things progress. There are a lot of potentials in a lot of potential stories that fit into the overall concept. These are interesting and initial sketches in the first issue. Plot This new story tells how the Terminators attacked several key people in the past, in this case it shows how Harper and Penny have been hiding in the woods since 1979, until in 2018 one reappears looking for information about the children of both, which is still unknown. This T-800 is terrifying. This story captures that Slasher element of the original film, where this unstoppable force only exists to kill, including interesting science fiction elements. The short story included at the end takes us to the desert to another part of the world where a Terminator has other intentions. For those who are fans of Terminators and have seen all their adaptations, this comic is perfect to delve into another part of this universe, and for new readers it is the perfect starting point. Art It is detailed which allows for an interesting dynamism, achieving a retro aesthetic from the 1970s, which is perfect for narrating these time travels and giving it an important gloomy feeling. Summary Skynet uses all its knowledge from the past to launch attacks in different eras of time against all those who in the future may be part of the resistance. Exciting start to a saga that mixes horror with science fiction in the best balance. Terminator returns with more missions and fully determined more

The Terminator #1 by Dynamite Comics immediately hooks with its first page, diving into a well-written flashback that sets the stage. The cliffhangers keep you turning pages, each scene ending with a need to know more. A refreshing romance subplot centers the story, exploring the human versus machine theme in a new light. The narrative wraps up nicely, leaving you satisfied yet eager for more. This issue is a compelling take on the Terminator saga, blending action with deep human emotion, proving that even in a world of machines, love and humanity can still shine.

If the terminator is after a resistance fighter of note then why would it continue to hunt his parents nearly 40 years after he's born. The book they burn seems to be the answer but I'd imagine in 40 years the terminator would have better info on his prey than what could be gleaned from elderly parents, not to mention said fighter would have already done the things skynet sent the terminator back in time to prevent. Hopefully future issues will explain and this isn't an anthology series with tons of unrelated stories because if it is then the score for this issue drops quite a bit. This is from the same writer of the current Thundercats series and I've been pretty lukewarm on that title so I really wanted to like this to prove that book w as just a one off but maybe it's just not meant to be for me and Mr. Shalvey. He is a great artist though. more

To be honest it's was a bit dull and instantly forgettable. The art was extremely low quality for what is supposed to be high end sci-fi. Dynamite should spend as much time and cash on there interiors as the seem to do with the 1000 covers each issue gets. Here's a thought, why don't they stop writing comics and just make pretty posters.......JM
