What a fun ride this issue was! The stakes are high, the action is dynamic, and the characters are captivating! 'Space Ghost' is the most thoroughly exciting space adventure of the year. Pepose blends nostalgia with daring heroics that are sweeping and compelling in the same way vintage sci-fi serials were in the 50s but supercharged for modern times. Pepose and Lau deliver no shortage of action here which makes for a fun issue. But better than exciting action is action with a purpose. This multipronged effort by Space Ghost, Jace, and Jan to stop a war shows off how far the trio has come in their partnership since their initial meeting. Space Ghost #5 does an excellent job of reimagining Space Ghost villains like Zorak and Lokar. It also presents heavy emotional challenges for the likes of Jan and Jace, and expands upon the characterization of Space Ghost and shows that he cares about the safety of the kids. 'Space Ghost' #5 continues the reboot's run of fun, action-packed sci-fi adventures. Unfortunately, this chapter tries to do too much with just one issue. Still, David Pepose obviously has a great love for the characters and their relationships, even when those moments feel squeezed into this issue. Plot Zorak, the psychopath and fanatic leader of the Lokar cult, blackmails Space Ghost by kidnapping Jan and Jace. Space Ghost has no choice but to surrender and does what he is asked to do, activate a particle accelerator using his power bands. The goal is to bring Lokar, a world-devouring monster, from another dimension. But Zorak doesn't know that Blip helps Jan and Jace escape. They arrive to help Space Ghost stop Lokar's attack, which is a similar analogy to Cthulhu. This comic includes a lot of cosmic horror with science fiction. Space Ghost manages to stop this dimensional portal with the help of Jace, who mortally wounds Zorak. This causes him trauma and he wants to give up helping Space Ghost. Killing was never on his mind. His wish was to help, but never take someone's life like they did with his father. A shocking delivery full of action, and with a direct message about the deadly consequences of taking lethal actions. This comic certainly takes the Space Ghost myth to another level of interesting existential complexity. Art Showing how powerful this hero is from the technology of his power bands to his superhuman strength, it is organic art with many textures. The shadows and strokes he uses to give realism to Space Ghost's suit are mesmerizing. Summary Space Ghost, Jan, Jace and Blip vs Zorak, this chapter does not hold back on the level of action and drama, the moral consequences of this comic change everything more

They stuck the landing on thus arc. This series is becoming a modern classic. Theres nothing particularly deep or existential here. The comic is just awesome lol. The book manages to make the narrative engaging; the action is exhilarating and the artwork is full for life. The ending is very interesting and takes on a challenge i hope they can deliver. The bad guys feel old school, they arent complex with sympathetic backstorties, they are just bad, and must be stopped. But they still don't feel antiquated; or non threatening, they feel relevant and exciting to read. This version of Zorak is the best villain they've introduced yet, and I hope this isn't the last we've seen of him. He's dangerous, dedicated, and surprisingly not c ompletely delusional. Pepose is becoming one of my favorite writers, his team stuff just works and feels dynamic to keep you coming back. I just had a blast reading the book. Im really glad I stuck around for the series and im in for however long its granted to run. I recommend more people go for it, so that we can continue to get this type of stuff. It stands out among the comic shelves, there's nothing you gotta follow to read; the arcs aren't too long, and the format of an old cartoon is retrofitted well. It's good comics. more

In the latest installment of Space Ghost, David Pepose and Jonathan Lau continue to propel this iconic character to new heights. The issue is an action-packed, nostalgia-fueled ride that will leave readers eagerly anticipating what comes next! Pepose weaves together a satisfying conclusion to the high-stakes situation he set up in the previous issue. The highlight of the script is Space Ghost's battle against Zorak reaches a boiling point, with the fate of the galaxy hanging precariously in the balance, and Space Ghost is forced to make a major decision. Meanwhile, Jace, Jan, and Blip continue to be absolute stars in their own right. Pepose maintains a great balance of humor, heart, and high-stakes action in every issue. Some may have on e of more than the other, but it’s an impressive feat to maintain a steady mix without veering too far into one corner. Lau's artwork is simply phenomenal every issue. From the character designs to the sleek, retro-futuristic designs of the space technology, to the detail environments, every panel is a visual treat for the eyes. Lau's action sequences are equally impressive, with a keen sense of pacing and choreography that makes the battles feel intense and immersive. His depiction of the energy blasts throughout the battle are chef’s kiss. Andrew Dalhouse’s colors elevate it all with a beautiful palette of vibrant colors that bring each panel to life. He outdoes himself in the final few pages. Space Ghost #5 is an absolute blast from start to finish. With its pacing, stunning artwork, and heartfelt character moments, this issue is a must-read. THIS is what you get when a writer is allowed to make up stories themselves rather than write plots revolving around the editorial staff's bad ideas. It also shows what happens when they focus more on good storytelling instead of ways to ensure each issue will become a key issue. Who'd think you could fill such action, adventure and great storytelling into a simple 2 part story anymore? This really takes me back to the days of the true blue high flying heroics that made us love superheroes in the first place. Kudos to Pepose on another fantastic issue of the best superhero comic out there anymore by far. Even when Loeb and Lee return to Batman I know anticipation each month will take a back seat in priority o Space Ghost. That's how much I'm enjoying this series. The ending also left me eager to see what will happen next. Pepose is doing these stories well by making sure most plots don't drag on or write himself into corners like too many writers now do too often. But he makes sure we'll want to come back next issue to see how things go. Issue #6 can't come soon enough for me. more

David Pepose is doing such a great job with this book. Taking an over-the-top cartoon and grounding it like this really works. Showing Space Ghost kneel to save the kids and Jace try to attack the big guy and fail were good story beats. The storyline of closing the portal before the big bad comes through has been down a million times, but Jace announcing he is quiting because he can't live with his actions, is great character development.
