This issue really is a slam dunk between an incredible creative duo that uses heartfelt storytelling, engaging paneling, and encapsulating colors to deliver a memorable book. Tamaki's writing is great with small human touches, but it's really Rodriguez's art that continues to shine creating a vivid and often surreal world filled with magic and horror. It's given us a very different, more haunted Zatanna, as well as a more dangerous world of magic than we're used to. The art is phenomenal, the story telling it amazing, the world building is fantastic. Such a good series, so sad to see it’s only one for issue, but props to them for not milking it!

Still loving this series way more than I expected to. Zatanna has never been a character that stuck out to me as interesting and the art style is one that I usually can't stand, but not only does this book make Zatanna and her backstory very interesting, I also really like the art! I can't explain it, but the art here really works for me. The writing is enjoyable and the plot has somehow made me appreciate the character. Will be sad to see this one end.

This book is progressively getting better and finding its stride. Honestly the first couple of issues were a mess and the art was a disaster. However the art grew into the story as things got weirder and more into the magic world. Also Rodriguez drew Zatanna better each issue. She looks great and more in line of how I imagine her. So that is great! The Zatanna Constantine relationship is how I figured it would be but that is a good thing. Complex, John betraying but still having to move forward for the greater good. Also Zatanna finding herself in this issue was great. That colour explosion with her in her full costume near the end was great. Also I chuckled when Zatanna dragged the Stranger into the mindscape at the end. Nice li ttle touch. One thing I still dont like is how Zatara is treated. Unless their is a twist for what happened to him, him being an a-hole feels bad considering what their relationship typically is. I wish it was better in that aspect. That to me in the big thing I cannot 'get over' but seeing as its black label I can at least 'accept it' as its not cannon. A book that is growing into itself. A nice change of pace compared to so many DC books that start of strong and fall apart by issue 3. more

Nice change to the Zatanna and Constantine relationship. Really moves the book forward and lots of great stuff to digest. Wonderful writing throughout. The art is inconsistent but the change to full Zatanna was a great spread. Looking forward to the last issue as this series really got its legs under it as it went.

The problem with this particular book is the characters of Zatanna and John work wonderfully but the premise of the story is a bit of a mess at times. The art is subjective at most and is not for me but each to there own style.......JM
