The action in this issue is very very brief, but that doesn't mean the art took a backseat. Pat Gleason's portrayal of Cassie (and the rest of the team) is outstanding. Gleason makes the big bad evil guy look downright terrifying. When Amethyst attacks the bad guys, she literally brightens up the scene and beyond her quip, her motion livens up the entire page. I said last issue that Gleason was one helluva run right now in his career, and luckily us Young Justice fans get to experience that firsthand. This is an engaging team so far in Young Justice #2. There is already some build up suggestive of things going on in everyone's lives; this is a living world and we've entered in midstream. I can already see some potential conflicts building. Despite the high drama, there is both optimism and humor. I think this is a solid book. Overall, this issue presents a bland development of plot and character, made dynamic mostly thanks to Gleason, Lupacchino and Sanchez. While the dialogue was very on point and faithful to what little we know from the new characters, there is very little to help flesh out the dynamic of this new team. I had some high hopes going into Young Justice #2. I liked the first issue pretty well and was hoping it would build from there. Unfortunately, the story in this issue floundered. There was no excitement or energy to this issue. We really didn't learn anything besides some things about Wonder Girl that could have been paired done to a page or two instead of taking up half the issue. Bendis's dialogue really didn't flow well in this issue either and the whole pacing of the issue felt off. The art was good and was the highlight of the issue. The only thing that really has me coming back for issue #3 is we get to learn about Conner Kent “Superboy” and what he has been up to. Read Full Review

Young Justice #2 is another disappointing read. This young title is off to such an unimpressive start. Team titles have never been Bendis' strength. Still, Bendis has shown growth in his writing over on Superman so I thought we might get more of that here on Young Justice. With awkward dialog, no real progression to the story and an issue that spends seemingly the majority of its page count to tell you something that was said in one line last issue, this next chapter in bringing Young Justice back was a bit of let down and did nothing to answer any of the continuity questions that characters in this book create.  The art was great, but other than that, this was a real disappointment in how boring it came off. Overall, it's important to remember that Wonder Comics is an imprint from DC aimed at teens and telling their stories. Unfortunately, the wordiness of the interactions makes it difficult to really get behind it at any age level. If you're looking a good story with good writing, check out other teen comics likeGotham Academy, Teen Titans,or Marvel's Champions.I know Bendis can write for teens, and he showed us recently in Naomi Issue #1, so I hope it gets better after the team is rounded out. A slower issue, focusing mainly on the Wonder Girl, but a fun read nonetheless. I've got a feeling the whole first arc will, most likely, consist of issues like this - focusing on a few characters, with the main plotline taking a backseat. I don't mind that, as the team is quite large and consist of characters that we haven't seen for a while (Conner Kent next issue!!), so as long as the writing remains consistent (which, surprisingly for Bendis, has been great so far), I'm up for it.

I liked this issue more than the first. It gave us some insight into Wonder Girl that we didn't get the first go round. The story itself doesn't really progress much but we do get an interesting look at where she's been before now.

You know these stories, where two chapters seem so disjointed and loosely connected, they feel like two separate tales? That's exactly how I feel about this issue - on the one hand it continues events from #1, on the other it skipped any points in between then and now. To help you visualize - imagine that after the debut issue, Jinny Hex took a giant bottle of moonshine she most likely has in her truck alongside a shotgun and love letters from her cousins (that's how southern girls roll, y'all) and you drank it. To nobody's surprise you've blacked out, missed two issues, and then rejoined the fun not knowing what the hell you've missed and what's going on around you. And while I most certainly enjoyed Cassie's retrospective scenes being added, fleshing her character out, everything else seems to move in its own strange directions with no cause-result relations known to us. Why are these characters in the same place and time? How did they get there? And what made them to? And why Jinny wanted to shoot a black girl? Who does she think she is? A cop? There's so many question I have regarding this comic, and the only parts of it I enjoyed and fully understood were the ones with Wonder Girl. The rest, as I said, feels really disjointed, and I can't say I liked this issue overall. That's a shame, really, because the debut was great. This feels like something that should have been #3 or #4. Or maybe it is, but Jinny's moonshine got me. more

Just like last time your remark about Jinny is super, super mean and funny. As for the loose connections. I imagine that the next issue will show us how Robin and Amethyst teamed up and the next one will focus on Impulse and Superboi. All while pushing the story a little bit further.

"Bortles!" Well done. While issue #2 is still not perfect it is much more focused than the previous one, thus provides the reader with a much quicker and smoother read. Bendis shows us a bit of Gemworld "politics", but then he focuses primarily on the character of Wonder Girl. And it works. Cassie is a likable hero, kicks Despero's butt and tells her almighty grandfather to shove it. She kicks butt and stands up for herself. Yeah, I like her. Just like last time, we don't get much of it, but the banter between the "teammates" seems to be on the right track. Pat Gleason, together with Emanuela Lupacchino, are doing a wonderful job with the art. With art like that and more interactions between the young heroes (Bart and Conner inc luded), I imagine the book will easily be able to get 7.5 or even a solid 8.0. more

At the risk of unfairly focusing on one detail, Cassie one-punching Despero (who I seem to recall posed a threat to the entire Justice League a few times) does neither of them a favor. Bendis obviously wanted a big-name JLA villain for her to take down, so he spun the wheel and it landed on “Despero”. Because, you could literally put any baddie capable of being punched in there (I think of this as the random action figure school of plotting). And Bendis is a writer who likes to use the “big Silver Age villain is just a schlub (or as Priest liked to say, a ‘tuna sandwich’)” trope. But making Despero a weird clown who sounds scary but goes down after one punch doesn’t really make Cassie impressive. But I quibble.

Artwork is very good however, the dialogue is the main issue! Its terrible! Literally feels like we missed something between last issue and this. The tone of Tim and Cassie seems off. Issue felt kind of blah.

Why ? Why bendis always want to f... my favorite title. This issue made little sense. We don't see how Robin & Amethyst become friend, and no sooner had they beggin a fight than we skip to another thing. And it's a flashback than made a little sense too. The wonder Girl we see in this flashback look different than the one we see in the first issue. Then we have Jinny who want shot the green lantern construct (Dumb). And then Robin & Amethyst crash on Wonder Girl, Teen Lantern & Jinny. Cover - Good but not related. 1/2 Writing - It was messy and too talkative. And not very interesting. 1/3 Arts - I liked the arts. 3/3 Feeling - I will stop it very fast. I don't want to suffer on this. I already did on Ahmad's Exiles, and this is w orst than that. 0/2 more

Well, last issue wasn't exactly stellar, but at least it wasn't like this. This issue skips ahead, without any explanation, and spends most of its page count on a flashback that amounts to Wonder Girl wanting to find herself. The pacing here is already off the rails. But that's Bendis for you.
