I do like a lot of what Wilson is doing in this issue. It's an interesting concept and I like the conflicts it presents. But the art kills it for me. I have such a hard time paying attention to this because of how distracting I find this art to be. Read Full Review

Overall a good issue, but not to the potential that this team is capable of. Im hoping that the story dives into deeper waters with the next installment but still an enjoyable read. Read Full Review

    G. Willow Wilson writes a thoughtful issue in Wonder Woman (2016-) #59. Finally, Diana is faced with who she is as a hero and what she truly stands for, questions that have quietly lingered in the background of the series thus far. Read Full Review

Despite not falling in love with the visuals, the book has presented some promising setups, and we're definitely sticking around to see how those play out. Read Full Review

    Comic Crusaders - Daniel Clark

Two issues into G. Willow Wilson's run on Wonder Woman and there is a lot to be excited about. She is clearly setting up her story to look into the morality of Wonder Woman and how it relates to a grander geopolitical landscape of today's world while still including the more fantastical elements as well. Often when a new writer takes on a major character like this impulsivity takes over and you get a case of too much is done too soon. Wilson so far has avoided that pitfall by gradually building her arc bit by bit. When vision and disciplined storytelling like this meets typically good things happen. So far that trend has stayed true. Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - Christopher Landers

In the end, this book seems to have hit the ground running a little too fast. If Wilson can slow it down and refocus on Diana as the lead of her own book, it could be greatly improved. As it is, Ares is the star, and readers dont even really know whats going on with him. If the arc doesnt improve quickly, Wilson will lose her audience. Read Full Review

    Weird Science - Jim Werner

    G. Willow Wilson continues her run and while I really want to love it, I just don't.  This issue doesn't have a whole lot of Wonder Woman in it and what we do get is just not that interesting.  That is the problem with this entire issue...nothing from the story to the art really has me excited about the run yet.  I do think we will get there soon, but sadly, it's just not happening now. Comic Book Revolution - Kevin Lainez

    Dec 03, 2018

Wonder Woman #59 is a comic book that is completely carried by its two lead characters. The dynamic that G. Willow Wilson has created between Wonder Woman and Ares is the main driving force for keeping this issue afloat. It's just unfortunate that everything else around the story in Wonder Woman #59 completely falls flat. Unless these problems can be fixed immediately "The Just War" storyline may very well sinking due to all the leaks. Read Full Review
