Swamp Thing #2

The Swamp Thing #2 is a beautiful, atmospheric horror comic that builds on the already strong first issue. The writing of the story and dialogue feels so different from anything else thats available that it makes this series stand out on its own. The small cast allows each character, whether they be vulnerable humans or vicious predators of legend, to capture the attention. The art and colors are gorgeous, stylized whilst also helping to tell the story by themselves. Read Full Review

Make no doubt about it, The Swamp Thing #2 is proof that this is one of DC's best books in the "Infinite Frontier" era. The creative team is doing it the old fashioned way, they aren't trying to re-invent or destroy the wheel- they are letting character drive the story, pepper in a couple solid mysteries and wrap it up in magnificent art and colors. This is a slow-burn story with some fantastic visuals, but even after two issues I'm still not sure exactly what's going on here. That's not a complaint per se"it's a fascinating journey"but at the same time, I think the very Vertigo-esque tone of this series might take some people by surprise. DC Comics'THE SWAMP THINGis doing a lot right. But it's stepping on its own toes in some ways. Its strengths lie in that it doesn't try and be aSWAMP THING that everyone is familiar with. Swamp Thing #2 is a step up from issue #1 with more story and less self-important fluff. The art is severe in its use of dramatic shadow and mood coloring, which works well for the subject matter. Quite enjoying this series. I figured for sure I'd like the writing as Ram V rules, but the real treat has been the art. This is my first time reading Perkins' work and he's creating some very pretty and scary pages. Very curious to see where this goes from here and I wish it was an ongoing, but any Swamp Thing is good to have.

Just read this today and the second issue is better than the first imo. After reading my first book from Ram V called Paradiso published by Image comics. Been a Ram V fan ever since that great read. This is definitely imo the best book from DC's Infinite Frontier line imo at the moment. Instead of ten issues, I wish it was 12 or hopefully they turn it into and ongoing title. This is what I want from DC. 9.5/10

Ok we are officially in the groove here, This is a must read for Swamp Thing Fans. There are TONS of interesting easter eggs to the alan moore run throughout this fantastic issue. In regards to the story we see Levi come to terms with his place as a warrior for the green. We also see that he is quick to get past this stage and his opponent the pale wanderer. The Mentions of Sunderland, Holland, and the Banyan trees all hark to the hallmark Moore Run. A panel of a person turned into a tree that was found in the Moore Run, has been referenced here. That panel it references is from "Garden of Earthly Delights" in Swamp Thing Vol.2 Which in turn is Swamp thing in GOTHAM. Lo and Behold we get a Batman cameo in this issue as well and with the rev eal of "The Holland Phenomenon" we see a bridged continuity here. Fantastic. more

Very well written coming from a fairly "green" writer in the industry. I can put money on Ram V becoming an all star in the next couple years. Perkins art is just... *Chef's Kiss* ...perfect.

This was really good. Very good. It's the standout of Infinite Frontier, for sure. I just think the pacing was a little too fast, but maybe that's just how it has to go, being a miniseries.

What a great book. Smart, well-written, and manages to keep the tension going with this fantastic art. Has just enough psychologic horror elements to keep me excited.

Ram V is probably my favorite writer currently at DC right now. Levi concludes his first trial as the new Avatar of The Green and I'm sure the journey ahead will be a tumultuous one for him. I'm really enjoying having a new Swamp Thing series and this has so far lived up to the high standards set by previous runs on this series.

As another user stated in their review, the ongoing storyline just felt clearer here. Everything just clicks in a way that the previous issue didn't. That's not to say it was bad, however, as I was a fan of it. However, this one is just better in my opinion and I like the direction this is going. Plus, the art we get from Perkins here is great once again. Of course, he shines when he's able to let loose and draw the crazier stuff going on in this book.

Ram V is expanding the Swamp Thing mithology in such an interesting way. The art fits the story very well.
