I find myself very conflicted with Bendis' Unity Saga storyline. I hate many of the decisions that Bendis made to set this story in motion, such as aging Jon and shoehorning Rogol Zaar into the story of Krypton's destruction. But given the questionable start, he has managed to bring it to a somewhat satisfying conclusion. I have to conclude that I enjoyed reading the story, but I look forward to the next major retcon that wipes away the parts of the Superman mythos that Bendis broke to produce this story. I know I'm beginning to sound like a broken record, but Superman #15 is the best issue of the series. It just keeps improving. Bendis and Reis manage to not just set-up multiple exciting future plot threads, but also satisfyingly wrap-up the others. Frankly, I haven't been this excited to read Superman in years. This is not an easy book for people to just drop into because it's the end of a storyline that Bendis has been telling over the last year while serving as a launching point for a big property that I love. I'm able to connect the dots based on the limited reading I did before and my longtime love of the Legion in all its various forms. I can see how Bendis is looking to take the things that were lost in the original Crisis and bring them back but working within the current continuity and tweaking other things. It does work but it still pains the heart a little bit remembering those classic adventures, the pocket universe, and all the other ways it was patched over the years. That's part of what makes the Legion special for many. There's a lot of potential here and I'm excited to see if it can be fully realized. Read Full Review

The previous issues' storylines are wrapped up and the Legion makes an extended cameo. I picked this up solely for the Legion, but there were enough breadcrumbs in this book for me to be curious about what led up to this team's inclusion. Their personalities comes through in the artwork as well. Ivan Reis does a great job throughout the entire comic but the highlight is certainly the pages featuring the Legion. You can tell from their cheering, smiling faces how excited the teenagers are to witness the very first Unity Day, how much it means to them. The costumes all look great too. Some of my personal favorites are the ones on Lightning Lad, Timber Wolf and Brainiac 5. Each costume is unique but are also cohesive at the same time. At any rate, Legion of Super-Heroes fans can absolutely skip Superman #15. I know that the Legionnaires are on the cover of this issue. But, trust me, that is false advertising. The Legion are only in ten of the twenty-three pages of this issue. And in those ten pages the Legion are largely just there for window dressing and humor. They are never the focus of the story. While there are a few moments here that can give you the feels, while being given some excellent art throughout, the overall feel of this book doesn't come off as big as it should and quickly moves on from important details about all the characters involved.  I'm always looking for more out of this title and by this point I don't ever think I'm going to get it. God fucking damn it. Bendis again ignoring continuity as he did in his marvel days. This Superman is a pre-Flashpoint, post-Crisis Superman. It's just so odd to see Superman react with a huh? to seeing the Legion when he's worked with them multiple times. He should definitely know who the Legion of Super-Heroes are, he grew up hanging out with most of them. And I don't wanna see replies saying oh it's rebirth, it's part of New 52, this Superman is literally transported from before New 52, and in the Superman Reborn arc in Tomasi's run he merged both histories so everything happened. It just continues the theory that Bendis is literally the top gun and uneditable at DC. Literally the best story DC has put out in years, Doomsday Clock , gets sidelined for this and Justice League (albeit Justice League is at a very good spot right now). And Doomsday Clock was edited to death, resulting in delays and a rushed changed issue 11. Reis is drawing his heart out but it all feels wasted. My opinion on Bendis keeps going back and forth because he's writing great stuff in Batman Universe, but that's out of continuity, and it's a limited series, while this is just really bad writing and convenience. And what the fuck is that ending? Just wasting what Jor-El meant to the Rebirth mystery by bringing him back in Man of Steel just to blow him up here. Like I'm used to continuity getting ignored in comics, it happens all the time, especially in DC, literally to the point where they have chracters such as Mister Mxyzptlk and Psycho Pirate who comment on the insanity of DC continuity. But, when you say in Doomsday Clock that it all happened and provide a good reasoning for it that everyone's on board for, and then just throw it in our faces, that's when you get upset fans, and I'm not shocked that people don't like this series and the direction DC is going in. It's no wonder Marvel is outselling DC at the moment with books such as House of X, Absolute Carnage, etc. They deserve the title House of Ideas, and to quote RedLetterMedia, DC should stand for Don't Care. Read Action Comics The New World by Dan Jurgens. It takes place after Superman Reborn. Not everything from pre-flashpoint Superman got brought back. Case in point: his relationship with the Legion. He doesn't know them. It was even in Doomsday Clock. disappeared because Superman doesn't remember her.

Prelude: Hey, it's time to do Bendis' Superman. GGREEAATTT. Oh and it's also a Legion focused issue too! This will definitely bode well for the rating because as everyone knows Bendis Superman + Bendis Legion is a really good number. Let's get this over with so I can go and enjoy reviewing Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen instead. The Good: Positives... Positives... Oh, the art is great. I do also like the idea of New Krypton, so for now Bendis has my slight trust in this area. The Bad: You know it! It's time for some Bendis-Speak! Woo! I don't exactly know why the Legion needed another reboot but oh well, Bendis is back at it again. Jon's barely been back in this book. Seriously. He's Superman's son but he's been away so freque ntly it's not funny. Well Reogal Ztar is captured again without ever being a threat. Hopefully written out of the story for good this time. And Jor-El was casually thrown away. Great! Just what we most definitely needed! Thank you Bendis! Conclusion: Wow.... so we've hit a half reset with Jor-El and Raggal Zool being written out, but we still have aged up Jon and the whole Krypton timeline being hectic so that's a half win? Add a splash of Legion and wow, this was not a good issue was it? more

I expected the "grand finale" of the Unity Saga to be something unsatisfying and ultimately mediocre, but I had no idea it was going to be the single stupidest finale I've read recently. There are a lot of problems with it, not the least of which is the end of "Jor-El"'s arc. I mean, he's disposed of as easily as if there was no importance to him. I mean, after all he was only the catalyst for the entire story so far; there are no words that properly express how dumb this all was. "generic alien" (rogol-zaar) was confirmed to be nothing more than a discount doomsday, with a few extra taken off the top because it's damaged. Good riddance. Pointless villain that the writer could never even get right. As far as the "Unity Day" event, it is still preposterous than galactic civilizations far more advanced than Earth never thought up of such an organization. Dumber still that "representatives" from the future came to witness the event and expect nothing to change. I mean, Krona only wanted to witness the birth of creation and nothing happened from that right? Again, this is stupidity of the highest caliber, but I guess to the makes it was worth it for that Unity Day page. Zod and Superman's agreement to work together while cool and all, is very hard to believe, but I guess we're not considering any past actions or portrayals. bendis is known for wrecking continuity and here he just takes it up to 11. It's hard to believe Zod is discussing founding a New Krypton when he ALREADY DID THIS. This was a 1/10 story in its entirety. No one should bother reading something so bad. more
