Jun 12, 2019As always, the artwork is superb. Reis, Prado, Albert and Sinclair have obviouslycommitted themselves to making The UnitySaga a genuine event. Its visually ambitious, and they collectivelymeasure up to the challenge. I just hope they still have energy left tocontinue after this particular story arc concludes. Read Full Review

Jun 14, 2019Bendis and Reis do a great job conveying the action and love of the House of El (most of it, at least). This title continues to be at its best when following Superman's thought process mid-fight. Not a lot of characters allow for Bendis' tendency for the verbose during a fight while keeping realism in mind. Reis, as always, draws some amazing action shots. The creative team has designed a crisp, colorful, fun comic to behold. The MVP panel in this book is the post-fight shot of Superman, Superboy, Supergirl, and Krypto finally getting the chance to embrace warmly in an almost full-page spread. The accompanying panels capture Jor-El's isolation from the family and a contrasting sadness. It was easily the most compelling page. Despite not really being into the "Real Death of Krypton" they keep coming back to, this creative team excels in storytelling so this is a comic I always look forward to. Read Full Review

Supergirl Comic Box Commentary - Anj
Jun 17, 2019The answer is coming now that they have traveled to the site of Krypton's destruction. Nice cliffhanger. There was a lot to love here. The El family dynamic was wonderful, so much of that love and pride reflected solely in the expressive artwork. Supergirl being as big a player as Superman in this story, including her ability to get Jon out of there, was great. And the promise of closure to the Oz arc is good news. Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - David Harth
Jun 12, 2019Superman #12 is hard to quantify. It starts out really good, with wonderfully drawn and exciting action. Ivan Reis knocks it out of the park in these pages, showing readers how great he can be. The second half of the issue is well done, but how much a reader enjoys it will depend heavily on how much they are into Bendis Krypton retcon. This isnt at all a bad issue; far from it, really. It does a great job of setting up more things for the future, and they are all pretty intriguing. However, if the reader doesnt like what Bendis has been doing, they arent going to like what they see. Read Full Review

Jun 12, 2019While this book remains the weaker of the two Bendis' Superman books due to some weird pacing issues, but it's still fun to read and is building an intriguing mystery about the destruction of Krypton, a mystery no one thought they'd want to read about. Read Full Review

Jun 14, 2019While this issue is a tad maudlin, the conversation does way it down somewhat, Bendiss hot streak on Superman continues. The art is always fantastic and the story is finally reaching a conclusion. I should mention that Clark has the funniest line in a comic book I read in months. I wont repeat it here but lets just say that as much as Clark loves Lois, he also fears her more than maybe even Doomsday. I cant wait for the next issue. Now if only Action Comics could produce the same reaction from me. Read Full Review

Jun 12, 2019There's some great moments between our heroes in this issue and we do get a pretty big revelation, all depicted with some amazing art, but by the end of the issue I was left wanting because this whole situation feels a bit forced and we never get a reason behind why Jor-El was getting attacked in the first place. All in all, there's enough here to keep most Superman fans happy though, I just wish we could do something more with the story, where everyone isn't hiding some kind of diabolical secret. Jun 17, 2019VerdictI don't think Brian Michael Bendis is a bad writer. I have liked his work on other comics and much of his writing in this current iteration of Superman. However, I have strong reservations about many of the choices he has taken with the direction of Superman. I don't feel that the story he has given us so far has justified these changes. Hopefully, he will wrap up this current Rogol Zaar story soon and bring the title back on track with a new story arc. Read Full Review
