While the Nightwings do their best to contain the situation in Blüdhaven, Ric faces off against Talon! But the battle is one not just of brawn, as Ric's psyche is taken to its limits when he learns about his family history for the first time since his memory was wiped. Will Ric Grayson at last become the Gray Son of Gotham he was destined to be, or will he choose the life he's been trying to establish for himself in Blüdhaven?

The ending of the issue then takes a wild twist that I did not see coming. It is a great cliffhanger, and I can't wait to see what is next. Jurgens and Cliquet have created another fine issue. Next month can't come soon enough! Read Full Review

Looking at the larger picture, if at the end of this whole experience Ric becomes Dick again, I think it will all have been worth it. It's been a frustrating experience, no question. But it'll be something that helps shape Nightwing going forward. Also, it'll serve as another example of Dick Grayson's ability to persevere in the toughest of times. Read Full Review

I don't know whether to fear for Nightwing's life, or to stand up and applaud. I have a feeling that the events seen in this issue could prove to be the catalyst to re-awakening the side of Ric Grayson that has so cruelly, and violently, been stripped away from him. If that isn't the case, then our hero could be in for the biggest battle of his lives. Read Full Review

Nightwing #65 [Jurgens/Cliquet/Filardi] bring some Essential of Emmerill level spice that is much needed to the formerly bland story of "I'm not actually Nightwing despite acting exactly like Nightwing" Ric Grayson. If the concept had been this well done from the start it woulda been much more popular with fans like Grayson was under Seeley. Read Full Review

Nightwing gets a boost from the shift from the tedious amnesia storyline and pitting Ric against Talon. These next few issues will be key to see how long Jurgens can keep this storyline rolling. Read Full Review

    Geek Dad - Ray Goldfield

This is a pretty broad comic without much subtlety, but it's also fast-paced and delivers some great action. But the Ric Grayson story is set to come to an end in 2020, and it's about time. Jurgens has done his best with the story, but the status quo has hobbled every writer who's worked on it. Read Full Review

The showdown we've been waiting for is here, Talon Vs. Nightwing!  Too bad it's padded out with the rest of the Nightwings not adding anything new to the story, while the fight between our hero and villain is pretty much just catching Ric up to speed with who William Cobb is.  The art is great though and the cliffhanger leaves me excited for the next issue and what it will bring. The story attempts to give us a better understanding of Bldhaven at the same time, but fails with an event that makes its citizens look completely ridiculous. Read Full Review

    Batman-News - Nancy Northcott

    Oct 17, 2019

This story is one long fight with Talon pontificating about his goals and Ric's place in the Court of Owls. The fight isn't choreographed well and doesn't flow logically. The one bright spot is Bea's courage, though she offsets that by doing something stupid during the fight. The visuals unfortunately also fail to flow logically in places, and the ending doesn't do much to raise anticipation. Read Full Review

Final Thoughts: I'm not totally lost on this issue. it hasn't done anything unforgivable yet or make me question my purchase. It's just a big let down since the last two issues were giving me so much hype. Read Full Review
