I don’t think the dialogue was bad, especially not compared to Kings awful dialogue, but I agree about the plot progression.
Nightwing #52
| Writer | Scott Lobdell |
| Artist | Chris Mooneyham |
| Cover Price | $3.99 |
The city of Bludhaven is descending into madness...with citizens falling victim to not only a group of vigilantes taking justice into their own hands, but to a new brand of fear focused on the past. While Grayson is happy to simply look to the future and move forward with his life, how will he deal with a threat that originates in his past? A threat dead set on destroying the Boy Who Fears Nothing? A threat that goes by the name of Scarecrow? Will Grayson continue to leave it all behind, or will he be left with no other choice but to pick up the pieces of Nightwing's shattered life...starting with a mask?

DC Comics News - Steve Ray
Nov 07, 2018VerdictYes, I'm really enjoying this new direction. Ric Grayson always has been and always will be one of the greatest heroes in comics. His journey of rediscovery, plus having to deal with darker versions of his former persona, will eventually lead him back on the path of righteousness… I know it will. In the meantime, though, we're going to get some fresh, thrilling and truly innovative new Nightwing adventures. Read Full Review

Nov 10, 2018I absolutely love the feel and aesthetic of this issue. It's written, drawn and coloured in such a way that makes it feel like a gritty noir film. The creative team have done an excellent job on this issue. Read Full Review

Nov 06, 2018Also, really loved Chris Mooneyham and Nick Filardi's cover and artwork this issue. My favorite image, even more than the cover, was the very first page where Grayson is watching the ambulance scene at Melville Section in Bldhaven. Very gritty and un-Dick Grayson-like. Read Full Review

Nov 07, 2018NIGHTWING #52 is an issue worth reading. The artwork brings the city of Bldhaven to life. While there are some weaker plot points, like new vigilantes in Ric's city, Scott Lobdell has written a pretty great storyline for NIGHTWING #52. Read Full Review

Nov 07, 2018I wasnt a fan of this storyline at first, but Lobdell and Nicizeia have proven they can make it work. This has been a surprisingly strong Nightwing arc and Im actually ok with a slow burn pace towards Dick reclaiming his identity. Read Full Review

Nov 07, 2018Chris Mooneyham takes over the art on this issue, and the artwork is perfectly befitting for a tale set in Bludhaven. Imperfect and gritty, the unique style just makes sense. Read Full Review

Black Nerd Problems - Mikkel Snyder
Nov 07, 2018I miss Dick Grayson. I miss Nightwing. I miss the quips and the joy of the acrobatic hero. The thought experiment continues to drag and while there are parts that intrigue, the fascination with Ric's repetitive lifestyle is, unsurprisingly, repetitive. Read Full Review

Nov 07, 2018ChrisMooneyhams artwork seemed a bit uneven this issue. Uneven compared to whathes done before, I mean. Perhaps he drew it under a tighter deadline thanusual, but it seemed to me a wee bit rushed. But even rushed Mooneyham isbetter than some other artists I could name (but I wont). Read Full Review

Dec 02, 2018The issue is enjoyable and Ric Grayson is a good character, just not as Nightwing. Im intrigued as to where they take this new arc and would like to see Ric put on the Nightwing suit. Read Full Review

Weird Science - Eric Shea
Nov 07, 2018The art continues to depict this gritty story perfectly and we have a really interesting progression towards the end of the book, but for the majority of this........ Well, Scotty Lobdell really wanted to make sure that everyone knew everything that's been going on with Ric Grayson and for someone who's been reading....... it was a bit disappointing. Now don't get me wrong, this is still interesting, I could have just done with a bit more progression and a lot less recap. Read Full Review

Nov 09, 2018I can't bring myself to recommend Nightwing at the moment, and that's odd because I've spent year insisting people check the book out. But this is not Nightwing, so don't waste your time" Unless you have nothing better to do. Read Full Review

Nov 11, 2018Nightwing #52 seems like a missed opportunity in the Knight Terrors storyline. This is unfortunate, because there seemed to be so much promise here. Instead, Lobdell and Nicieza get caught trying to work with too many plots at the same time. Hopefully, they will begin to tighten things up in the next few issues. Read Full Review

Nov 07, 2018Chris Mooneyham returns to Nightwing in Nightwing #52, but it's a very different Nightwing than the one he left. This issue isn't quite as aggressively bad as the first issue of Scott Lobdell's "Ric Grayson" run, but it's still a complete mess of a concept. Read Full Review
