Every issue packs enough action in it for a full arc, but somehow it doesn't overwhelm just how good Tynion is at the quiet moments. Justice League Dark #6 was indeed bananas for the lengths that the JLD went in order to save Bobo from his fate, and for the urgency that had now kicked into overdrive after the confrontation between Doctor Fate and the Phantom Stranger. Justice League Dark is taking time to gel for me partially because of the crossover aspects that impacted earlier issues and the way this feels like such a short side arc, which is actually a positive in its favor. Tynion's still a writer I struggle with to get into the groove of his style but I like what he presents conceptually, so I'm able to enjoy it. A big part of the enjoyment is the cast of characters themselves and how well Sampere and Albarran bring them to life, which makes it easy to enjoy the book on that level as well. This issue sets up what's next which looks really interesting and I'm excited to see where it goes while hoping that it lands better for me than the previous run of issues. Read Full Review

Justice Dark #6 is a well drawn, colored, and written book, but spends too little time showing the awesomeness of spectacular battles and too much on exposition detailing planning and small talk between characters. Read Full Review

This gets better every month. Its insane! The art have been consistently amazing. But the script is the pure gold for me. What James Tynion is doing with Bobo is, for me, like what Geoff Johns does with "forgotten" characters. Hes an amazing character in this series. Theres a page where he does a monologue that made me stop and read it again like three times because it was so good! This is a very VERY good book. Totally recommend it.

I’m going to ignore my quibbles with Constantine’s characterization and the way that Tynion IV seems to be leaning into his New 52 self- particularly the obsession with Zatanna- and say that on the whole I really enjoy this comic. The only good thing about the Zatanna thing is that this means that my trash boy Nick Necro is still canon. One day he will return to me.

JLD is such a cool comic. This was a great Detective Chimp-centered issue; showing a flawed hero who feels forced to do the right thing out of obligation to his friends. I'm definitely hooked on all the various other plotlines going on here and can't wait to see where this all leads. I love having a DC team book that is basically an epic fantasy with superheroes. This is what the New 52 JLD series should've been.

This series continues to impress issue after issue. With the exception of a couple of issues in the witching hour event, the stakes continue to get higher and they continue to be realised, which doesn't seem an easy task when the entire magical universe is continually on the line. The characterisation is always spot on for the core members but also for the regular guests. On that same note, its refreshing to see the return of so many legacy heroes that seem to have been forgotten throughout the years. If only Rebirth had started with Justice League Dark, I definitely think we wouldn't be having this slack now.

This issue was really good. I liked the emotional aspect of Bobo's story, but not so much the story itself. I don't care about Blue Devil or Myrra, though. The stuff with Doctor Fate and Phantom Stranger was really cool and I'm really excited to see where that goes.

I don't remember why I dropped Justice League Dark from my pull list but clearly I shouldn't have. I don't even remember most of the previous book aside from Bobo (Detective Chimp) monologing and drinking. This issue picks up with Detective Chimp captured and still morose over the death of his partner, The Nightmaster. He is eventually set free by Wonder Woman who convinces him to carry on and live up to the faith that Nightmaster had in him. The comic checks in on the rest of the team. Swamp Thing and Constantine witness a huge battle between Swamp Thing and the Phantom Stranger. We also get to see Zatanna investigating how Bobo got them into the situation in the first place. This is a solid chapter in an ongoing series. I re ally was down on Constantine in my review of Batman #63 but here he feels like a real character. I still think he's a bit overrated. The entire team dynamic works better than expected with the exception of Manbat. I still question what the hell he's doing here. I have a suspicion that he's probably someone on the creative team's favorite character. The art is perfectly paced with the script. There are huge action beats and introspective moments, particularly between Bobo and Dynamic. The characters have chemistry and you buy their relationships as friends and teammates. There's a lot to love in this issue and it looks like I'm gonna have to track down issue #7. I'm sort of invested in the outcome of this story arc now. more

Took a while but finally enjoying this comic! Great artwork and good dialogue. The cliffhanger doesn’t do anything for me unfortunately. The part of the issue with Bobo is thoroughly enjoyable. This issue is good at showing what each character’s strength at. Not perfect but better than what we have been getting.

"I need more mead" Bobo is easily becoming the emotional center of this team. Turns out that under the facade of wit and snarkiness resides a broken "man", who is heartbroken after his friend's death. That conversation he had with Diana was sad and a bit depressing. Kudos to James Tynion for good writing. The rest of the issue sets up for the upcoming war for magic's survival and shows that it is high time for someone to kick Nabu's butt. Good issue.

THE GOOD: -I did like the chaos going on in Myrra however. That was well-done and it showed us just how disastrous things have become there. -Detective Chimp was a pretty great character. He has become the most well written member of the team, though I think Kirk is still the most enjoyable. -I actually liked the reveal of how Chimp made Myrra so chaotic. Not something like he was evil, but simply because he wanted to save a friend. Some of his motivation was a little iffy still, but I won't take off for that. -I especially liked it when Chimp got his redemption. -The Doctor Fate/Constantine/Swamp Thing scenes were pretty good. They were a lot of setup and started to feel like a distraction from the main story, but ultima tely were still really well-written. -I liked the end. It is a good setup for the next arc. THE BAD: -The art was fine, but it doesn't compare to Alvaro Martinez's. -I wish they could have done more with Blue Devil's character. He really didn't feel like much of anything. -This issue did have some typical Tynion-esque ridiculous exposition, which this series briefly steered away from. I personally enjoy that, this is a purely personal thing, however. I wouldn't blame you at all for liking this dialogue. -The climax came and went a bit too quickly in my opinion. It felt like we cut to another scene way too fast. more
