Flash #63

This is a highly entertaining and beautifully constructed issue that leads to a huge cliffhanger. What connection is there between The Force Quest, Hunter Zolomon, and other happenings in the DC Universe? I'm not sure, but this issue teases an impending conflict between The Force Wielders that could rattle the foundations of The Multiverse itself! I Highly recommend that fans of DC and The Flash grab this book and the previous issues in The Force Quest to stay up to date. Read Full Review

It's been a blast reading Williamson expand The Flash's universe beyond the Rogues. With this surprise Force Quest ending, Williamson has set the title on a path with just as much promise as when Geoff Johns kicker off the Sinestro Corps War in Green Lantern. After the fallout from Heroes in Crisis of course. We don't have to wait long as that picks up in The Flash Annual #2, which is out this week as well. Read Full Review

Overall, I really enjoyed this issue. There were moments where I wasn't quite sure where the story arc was going, but it all wrapped up nicely in the end. What really captured my attention was the ending, setting up the story forThe Flash Annual #2. This isn't the last time that we see the Force powers being talked about. The conclusion of "Force Quest" in Flash #63 brings the whole world tour full circle as Barry finally discovers the horrible truth lurking behind the three new Forces " and harsh reality comes crashing into his life in a big way. Read Full Review

There is a lot of exposition dump in The Flash #63 and it actually rounds up a lot of the arc with a satisfying conclusion. It's a pity that it doesn't end with the first half of the story. Read Full Review

The art by Minkyu Jung is good. There are a couple of good panels in the book, but nothing that really stands out. It's unfortunate because Williamson writes a couple of really good moments that could have been punctuated by dynamic visuals. Read Full Review

THE FLASH #63 just doesn't reach the highs that prior arcs reached, especially the FLASH WAR arc. Joshua Williamson is clearly not at his A-game with this arc, and it shows. Minkyu Jung's art, though, is quite a stunning sight. Read Full Review

I hate to do it, I really do. However, this book is terrible. Everything that was hyped up in this storyline was revealed to be harmless or meaningless. Sure, there are some interesting parts and we do get a decent lore dump in the middle of this issue but it's disappointing to have all this buildup and only for it to end this way. This was incredibly disappointing and I wasn't even expecting that much. That's how much this issue falls flat. This book is getting a very familiar score that our readers are quite familiar with. It seems like, with the introduction of the various warring forces surrounding The Flash's Speed Force, this title has more or less become a game of giving virtually indistinct powers to a bunch of people and then punching them. Read Full Review

In the end, only one word can sum up this issue--disappointment. Yes, there is a new, eyebrow-raising revelation for the Forces in this issue, and yes, Barry finally has to confront some terrible things that have been happening back home in his absence, but none of that has any weight to it. Quick read and quicker time of events! Everything happened fast and unfortunately when a lot happens makes things seem forced. At least we know where this book takes place along with Heros. While I enjoy the idea of having four forces, doesn't seem like we are getting a four Corps type of forces. How Barry thought of Zoloman felt tad forced.

Ugh. I really hate this book. This whole Force Quest arc has been beyond boring. Just a bunch of new characters not fleshed out enough, with new powers that are also not fleshed out enough, but at the same time there's so much expositing about them that you wonder if you just blocked out the information. And then, Heroes in Crisis hits Flash. In an extreme non-ending meant to sell more copies of the annual. And we still don't know what's going on with Commander Cold. This whole thing just bores me to death.
