This issue gives quite a battle royale between the Bat Family and Kobra, one that exposes more about each character than one would expect from any fight scene. The story by Robinson is exciting and gives readers the fight they have been waiting for. The art by Di Giandomenico is serviceable at best, but right now is not aesthetically pleasing. Detective Comics #992 delivers all of the action missing from previous issues and finally reveals the sinister intentions behind Kobras recent attacks on the city. Overall, it is a solid entry in a well-told mystery story that brings Batman out of his comfort zone to once again save Gotham City and all of its citizens. Read Full Review

This has been the strongest issue in quite a while. I know it sounds obvious, but comics work best when both writing and art are strong. This issue was a good, solid read, and not just an album of pretty pictures. Nextissue teases the death of Harvey Dent? Could it truly be? Unlikely. Nobody evertruly stays dead in comics. Perhaps Two-Faces personality comes to the fore,completely subverting former DA Dent. So forgive the spoiler without an alert.Its not likely to happen. Read Full Review

James Robinson wastes Two-Face, Batman and everyone's time with a story that is boring, convoluted and just plain unnecessary.  I was hoping this could at least be some fun, but it's not.  Give this story a big pass. Read Full Review

The worst story arc in comics is one that the reader doesn't care about. It doesn't have to be bad, it doesn't have to be relatively decent, but its story makes readers just indifferent, uninterested, apathetic. Robinson "accomplished" that in his issues of Detective Comics. I don't care about anything that happens in these books, and I'd rather see the story ending already, and new one starting. Kobra is overstaying its welcome, and it's time for a breath of fresh air in the series. It really is. There's no noticeable tension and stakes even if technically they exist, Kobra is generally a rather silly group of super generic baddies, and the story seems to painfully drag issue to issue. Can't recommend this one - it's so forgettabl e, I've already forgotten it. Good for me, I guess. more

I think it was ok, but nothing outstanding. The dialogue between Batman and Two Face was interesting, but in my opinion Kobra isn’t really interesting as an enemy. So I don’t think much has happened in this issue.

summed up very well. i can't find one single interesting quality about Kobra. not even the dialog from the characters that i do care about holds my interest. i've said this time and time again, i really hope DC drops the bi-weekly release schedule. at least then it'd give the writers more time to hopefully come up with better stories. more isn't always better.

I hope they get more interesting next issue, but the story is soon over, therefore I doubt it. And I agree. This bi-weekly release isn’t good for the quality of the stories, but I also think we need new writers& that more often. Writers shouldn’t do 100 issues.

i've already mentally checked out with this story arc. the only thing i can hope for is some nice art, though it does look a bit rushed. . . . which definitely comes back around to this bi-weekly release schedule nonsense. it is nothing more than a way to get as much money from the fans as possible. serve up quantity over quality. looking at how exhausted and burned out the new 52 Batman ended, no writer should do 50 issues, let alone 100. that is going to be one heck of a train wreck.

they are putting in an Arkham Knight story?? i figured the demand for that type of thing had long since passed. . . . personally i feel Rocksteady made a grave mistake not having Paul Dini write the 3rd game. it just didn't have the same heart the other two games had.

A new iteration of Arkham Knight is mentioned, I dont know if it takes place in the Arkhamverse or if AK is put in the canon timeline. I loved Arkham Knight& it’s my favorite of the Arkham games. Thought the story was better than the others.

they made the ending too final. felt like they were trying to ape TDKR. they could have left the story open where some other studio could have picked up the story and continued it. ...it was funny how they claimed Arkham Knight was an ENTIRELY NEW character, even though everyone suspected it was just Jason Todd. and low and behold, it was Jason Todd.

Personally I have to agree that AK didn't have the heart of the previous two and felt too final. I don't play many video games, but my favorite of the trilogy was Arkham City. Excellent storyline and a beautiful ending.

I love all He Arkham games, but AK is my favorite. Scarecrow was awesome in it& with him& Jason it was the best story for me. Or he flashbacks were great. Before the game was released there were many theories who the AK was. As for me I am fine with Jason being him. His story there made more sense than in the comics.

for Arkham Knight, i just wish they would have given us multiple endings. REAL multiple endings with variety. not just extended versions of the same ending. especially since it was going to be the last in the series.

it'd be nice if they'd continued with the Arkham Origins series. i really enjoyed Roger Craig Smith's voicing of Batman. just wish the combat controls were tighter.

I rather wish it wouldn’t be an open ending like there are so many theories about the ending like the ending being symbolic, Knightmare Batman being Bruce using fear gas etc. However if we talk multiple endings, I want one where Scarecrow is completely winning& shooting Batman for real.

I normally don't read back to back issues of the same title but I was motivated to press on because I'm really disliking this story arc. To be perfectly transparent, If I wasn't so far behind in my pull list I would have probably dropped detective after the last issue.  This issue continues the Kobra story arc with Batman and Two-Face teaming up to take down the Cult. The story is pretty straight forward with the duo defeating the enemy fairly easily. They then discover that the plot is going to be a lot more complicated than pummeling the bad guys into submission. The issue is barely passable and the internal logic of the story is flawed. Batman and Two-Face have practically the same voice and when speaking to each other you' d be hard pressed to find much distinction between them. Another major problem with the issue is common sense characterization. Batman does not use guns and tell's Two-Face not to kill anyone. So why is Two-Face in turn running into the fight with two Pistols blazing.   ​​If Batman was really concerned about anyone being killed he would have disarmed Harvey prior to engaging the enemy. Two-Face is a villain and is about as unstable as you can get. This is sloppy storytelling and reflects really poorly on the editorial direction of the issue. The comic also catches us up with the rest of the outsider team as that storyline continues to develop. The art for the issue continues to be serviceable but there aren't any standout moments. ​​ The action is there but with the script being so bland and the locale being confined to one setting the entire issue is a muddy and miserable experience. Batman deserves better. more

This issue felt underwhelming. Coming after the previous issue, wondering what kind of battle we will see when Two Face and Batman team up. It was mostly narratives and hyping us up for the Outsiders book. The art was pretty good. Not great but not awful. Robinson doesn’t have my vote to be on detectives.

THE GOOD: -Great art. I enjoyed it a lot along with the colors. -There were some pretty cool action scenes at the beginning. It was cool to see Batman and Two-Face fighting together. -This issue gets credit for being a massive improvement over its sleep inducing previous issue. +1 extra point. THE BAD: -That dialogue at the beginning was interesting, but it couldn't help but feel like it was merely a distraction from a lack of plot. -I'm not really feeling Kobra as a villain. This story arc has no idea who it wants to be the villain. At first it seemed like Fireflies, then Two Face, now Kobra. Sigh. -I wasn't a fan of seeing the other Bat-related characters defeat the other Kobras. It felt like an easy way to get rid of all of those other Kobras. -The end didn't have me hooked. I am looking forward to the next issue however, mostly because its the last one of this story arc. -There's no huge crimes this issue commits. It's not terrible. It just struggles to be anything special, especially in an amazing week of comics like this one. more
