I loved the “idea†of where this has been going. But I feel like we are just trying to “again†quickly wrap up another story and move on to another. This was a nice steady build that included some cool things from Infinite Crisis, as well as Tynion’s own run. We don’t need to rush through an ending and I feel like we’ll just magically wrap it all up next issue like they did with Future Tim. If you’re going to just rush through an ending and leave glaring questions, what’s the point?

May 09, 2018The story is nearing its conclusion and knowing both the creative team and the antagonist there is likely to be fireworks before alls said and done. It will be very interesting to see how the end of this tale effects the relationships of what was once an unbreakable team and their ability to stay together. The series continues to be an intense and thrilling high stakes adventure that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. Read Full Review

May 11, 2018We're left with another killer cliff-hanger, something James Tynion and his collaborators do brilliantly. This issue is great, but the fun and excitement also leave me a little sad. This is Mr. Tynion's final edge of your seat ending on this title, and I'm both excited to see how it's resolved, yet apprehensive of finally reaching "The End." Read Full Review

May 09, 2018Tynion has done such incredible work navigating through the various members of this team and making them feel like a family that's it's such a buzz kill knowing we've only got one more issue with this crew. It's least it's been a sensational ride. Read Full Review

May 09, 2018Detective Comics #980, the penultimate issue of James Tynion's Detective Comics run brings a whole lot of OMAC action, but it's also the spotlight Cassandra Cain and Stephanie Brown fans have been waiting for, with a jaw-dropping last act twist that completely upends the two characters' status quo " hopefully not too late, given the creative team change. May 17, 2018Here we are, Brother Eye taking over Gotham city and the Bat-family fighting in hopes to end the darkness that has taken over. Brother Tim and his OMAC's are ready to change and create a new future. I've always been afraid when Brother Eye shows up wanting to change or ready to kill everyone. This time coming as a "savior", Brother Eye mocks Batman for his shortcomings and is ready to help Tim Drake get rid of Batwoman for her crimes she has committed in the future. As this issue ends Not everyone in the Bat-family is our for the count and Brother Eye/Tim better be ready to fight back. Read Full Review

May 09, 2018This is easily one of the most gorgeous issues of the series yet, and also one of the most fun. I wish we'd spend more time with Brother Eye Tim but alas, the next issue is Tynion's last. Scot Eaton steals the show and I can't wait to see what comes next. Read Full Review

May 10, 2018Batman: Detective Comics #980 is a solid continuation to Batmen Eternal, and it spotlights Spoiler and Orphan more than recent issues. The story is interesting and connects to some other DC lore in a surprising way. This one gets a recommendation. Give it a read. Read Full Review

May 12, 2018Detective Comics #980 is the strongest chapter of the "Batman Eternal" story arc we have gotten. James Tynion did a great job bringing all the storylines he has been developing over the course of his run together to push the entire Batman Family. What happens next and how the events of "Batman Eternal" leave Batman, Batwoman, Red Robin, Spoiler, Omen and the others adds a lot of excitement as to how Tynion wraps up his run on Detective Comics. May 09, 2018James Tynion's run is almost over and he uses this issue to set up the end. It's a lot of setup and a good portion of it is forced. Still, it looked good and gets us in position for a big finale. Read Full Review

May 10, 2018Usually I like to immerse myself in the story, but for some reason, the real enjoyment I got out of this particular issue was in trying to theorize on the potential meta commentary Tynion may have been incorporating into this piece. Although, as the story goes, I was happy to see it focus more on the characters than the fighting because I can't really drum up too much enthusiasm for unstoppable robot armies. One more issue to go! Read Full Review

May 09, 2018On a single issue format, it is a skip but is a good average comic on stands. There has never been a bad issue but none that have blown everything off the stands, this is the perfect continuation of it and we can only hope the next issue culminates everything in a wonderful fashion and what comes next is also as good as looking at this run overall.
