So things are looking pretty grim for our heroes as Supergirl delivers some disturbing news. I can't wait to find out what will happen in the next issue and learn who our heroes will have to sacrifice in order to defeat Nezha. Batman/Superman: World's Finest #4 was such a pleasure to read. Mark Waid and Dan Mora created so much more excitement for how this story dealing with the threat of Devil Nezha will end. This is a fun book, but I still find myself critiquing many of this book's elements. I like that it's action-packed and I like the adventure and the way the heroes are written. However, the main villain comes across as just another generic demon, and I'm starting to think that Waid is lucky to have Mora as his ongoing artist, because ideas such as this "Composite Batman/Superman simply aren't supposed to work out. This book is always a standout every month, just because it reads as such a love letter to the Silver Age of comics. Waid's dialogue is peppy and crisp and the interactions between Superman and Batman make the reader feel like they're actually friends on a deep, relatable level. It's so refreshing compared to the constant "let's make them fight each other" or "let's make Batman a dick to Superman" takes, which seem to be most of what we get nowadays. And damn is the Mora art just pretty to look at. He imbues his characters with a great sense of movement so the action never feels stale and the Bonvillian colors make it sing.

Still a lot of fun and Mora's art is great. This book is definitely a palette cleanser for more taxing and cerebral books, and it's able to do that and still maintain competent quality. The Supes/Bats dynamic flows naturally and I can see that Supergirl is one of his favorites to write. The best moment was when the Doom Patrol started panicking: "Coming in hot Doom Patrol! Scramble! SCRAMBLE!"

Whenever The Devil Nehza isn't on the page, people should be asking, where's The Devil Nehza? ;) Fun series buoyed with gorgeous Dan Mora art, but it's a bit silly in places. I expect slightly better from Mark Waid.

I'm loving this series with such fun writing and amazing art, but had to go down a little here with all the wonkiness of them merging with the ring because... magic? But the result looks so cool that I can run with it.

Not bad. It's a little less interesting than the last few issues, but this seems to be becoming another story with the whole Justice League getting caught up into it. It hardly seems like a Batman and Superman highlighted story right now. That's really my only complaint. The upsides still outweigh the downs by a pretty good margin. This still has the feel of the later post-crisis days. This issue is good enough, but the story is starting to slow down some. I just hope they don't overdo it with Nezha. Especially since I already know the instant this story is over they have another one ahead with him. I sure hope he doesn't turn out to be another of those overused enemies. Still, this is more fun than anything else with Superman now, and mo st of the numerous Batman things. And it's one of the better books still priced at $3.99. more

Yeah, no. It feels like the writer has lost control of his story and is just making it up as he goes along, throwing in cliffhanger after cliffhanger and then his soluation can be summarized with the phrase "sh*t happens". Nezha is unbeatable one moment but easily fought the next, characters constantly pulling new powers out of their assess to save the day. You can do "dumb but cool" but there comes a point when the dumb outweights the rest of the plot and your story suffers from it. This needs some sort of internal consistency and rules because "uh, anything goes" gets old very fast. Also, the fusion was wasted, to be honest. Cool concept, but really doesn't do anything other than get Batman and Superman out of trouble (and there were better ways to do that). more
