Batman: Dark Patterns #10 is another incredible issue from a creative team that seems incapable of making a bad comic. Watters' gripping writing and Sherman and Farrell's brilliant art make for an unforgettable read. This is the perfect way to kick off the final arc of this stellar series. A narrative lowpoint for a narratively outstanding series is still going to be a more than serviceable comic book. It's Dark Patterns how bad can it really be? However, this issue suffers from a noticeable lack of focus and forward momentum which has propelled this series so successfully all throughout this year. There is no reason to skip this issue, but better things are coming. This is not a great issue it's a functional piece of a great story. Read Full Review

I would go as far as saying that Dan Watters and Hayden Sherman should be working on the main Batman series.

That would also be great; but their approach feels more inline with some of the classic runs on Detective like Wagner/grant/breyfogle, Scott Snyder/jock. But I would take either!

I just honestly wanted something other than what DC gave us for their main Batman series "reboot". It doesn't feel fresh or new, just more of the same old same old. Dan Watters has such a good handle on Bruce and his regular cast and all their distinct voices. It just would have been nice to get more of that on a regular basis. I'm happy that this 12 issue series exists. I'm just sad that it's ending and we're now left with an ongoing of a pretty 'meh' Main Batman title.

Even though i'm not 100% in love with Scott Snyder's 'Absolute Batman' series, it still is enjoyable that I look forward to reading it. It just feels like the limited out of cannon series are producing better stories than the main ones.

Dark Patterns #10 is off to a promising start. But I thought the same back when I’d first read issue #7, and I was honestly less than charmed by that arc. Hopefully this final arc will fare much better!! The opening confused me as I’m not sure if this new villain is supposed to be psychic or omnipotent? Because he has 3 effigies each representing the protagonist of the previous arcs. This series best moments for me are when Bruce is interacting with Gotham mainstays, Alfred as well as James Gordon. The scene with Alfred tending to the severe injuries Bruce sustained during the previous arc, and Alfred's inner monologue was a pleasure to read. The new villain is quite creepy, but much about him is left ambiguous. As are the new unsettling discoveries about Dr Sereika. So we'll just have to wait and see how this all plays out. Fingers crossed in hopes for a nice strong finish to this series!! (side note) AGAIN!!! I had way more written in my review, and all the blasted pop-up adds made the page hiccup, and everything i spent time typing was erased!!! 🤬 more
