DC Comics News - Derek McNeil

Batman #105 is an enjoyable story that brings Ghost-Maker into the Bat-Family instead of becoming one of Batman's rogues gallery – assuming that their deal lasts. Whether he remains an ally or not, I'm sure either path will lead to some exciting possibilities. Read Full Review

    AIPT - David Brooke

As far as Batman comics go, James Tynion IV has added so many new ideas in such a short span we should all be grateful for what he's accomplished. The number of new characters he's added only enriches the Batman property and Batman #105 continues that trend. As Steve Orlando pointed out on the AIPT Comics podcast, James Tynion IV's Batman run is clearly one of the best series of the year. Read Full Review

Tynion wraps this arc is a surprising way given the earlier tone. Itll require a second reading to see if this shift works, but its an interesting direction for Tynion take that Im curious to see if it pays off. Tynion hasnt been afraid to go against expectations and has done a good job world building so early in his Batman book. Read Full Review

In the end, Batman #105 is a worthy conclusion of the Ghost-Maker's debut arc. It makes me interested enough in him to want to see him again. Even if the issue's ending's strangely sudden, and a little empty, the strength of the climax makes up for it. Read Full Review

    Newsarama - Oscar Maltby

    Dec 15, 2020

Batman #105 is not a brutal triple threat between the Bat and his two newest enemies, but instead a clash of ideas between three uncomfortable allies. This low-key conclusion makes for an appealing palette cleanser after the epic start of Tynion IV's run, delivering solid character development for the key players yet still maintaining tension. Post-Future State, it remains to be seen just how well this new and very reluctant member of the Bat-Family will fit in" Read Full Review

    Graphic Policy - Brett

    Dec 16, 2020

Batman #105 sets up an interesting dynamic by the end of the issue but like the arcs before doesn't quite satisfy. It again feels like a piece of a bigger puzzle. And due to that, it's not all that satisfying. These aren't the classic days where Batman's adventures were confined to some issues that you could enjoy on their own. Instead, this is just part of a bigger story whose arcs don't feel like they quite stand on their own. Read Full Review

    Weird Science - Dan Mayhoff

The Batman creative team brings this story arc in for a satisfying ending and one that I'm very happy with. While there are some issues that I have with it, overall most of the story lines in this story arc were brought to a nice conclusion (or jumping off point for the future) and the ending is great. There is some really good art in this issue as well. I wouldn't say it was an amazing issue or anything, but at least I wasn't bored and I would consider this issue to be worth the price. Batman #105 ended James Tynion's first year on the series on a strong note. There is a lot of groundwork laid out that has potential to turn into several intriguing storylines in the future. Harley Quinn's was a particular standout with her speech being something fans will most remember from this story arc. Read Full Review

For all of the ideas that James Tynion IV brings to Gotham as he overstuffs it with flashy new characters, the real disappointment of his Batman run ultimately comes down to two things: an over-reliance on hype that is enver really delivered upon and a lack of Batman. Read Full Review
