Oct 06, 2019This is a solid issue. The art is great. I enjoyed seeing Burnside again and I think that's a cool thing for Barbara to get to do. And Oracle's revenge is taking shape in an interesting way that I'm excited about. I loved this issue. Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff
Sep 25, 2019As closely as Batgirl is focussed-on with the new creative team, theres so much churning around in the narrative background that shes not given the moments to breathe. That would make for a really intimate 20 pages with her. This lends some power to a character who is so lost in trying to help other people that she doesnt time for herself. A lot is going on in her life. The new creative team is doing a remarkable job of bringing Barbaras life to the page. Read Full Review

Sep 25, 2019The art is pretty good, too. It moves the story at a lightning pace yet keeps you grounded as a reader. I think that this book will get even better in time to be a top tier title. I love the Batgirl character and it is nice to see that there is a lot of love and care that the character is receiving from the creative team here. Read Full Review

Sep 25, 2019What an ending… it was outstanding! I really can't wait to see how everything goes down in the next issue. Castellucci has really raised the stakes in Batgirl #39, let's see what crazy things happen next month. Being able to see Babs relax a little bit more and hit the streets as herself rather than Batgirl was great. There seemed to be a little bit of a spark with a certain someone, so maybe that could come up at some point in the near future. There are so many different ways this arc could go, personally I'm rather interested to see what happens next. Read Full Review

Batman-News - Nancy Northcott
Sep 25, 2019The Year of the Villain complicates Babs's life brilliantly in this issue, but those problems pale next to Oracle's plans. Against this backdrop, the story adds depths to Babs's character and Oracle's motivation. The art reinforced those character moments, especially for Babs, and served the story well despite a couple of glitches. Read Full Review

Comics: The Gathering - Olivier Roth
Sep 27, 2019The art in the issue is typical Di Giandomenico - if you’ve seen their work before, you know what to expect. I really enjoyed them on Flash a few years ago because the fluidity of their art worked really well on Flash. Thankfully, that same fluidity works really well on Batgirl as well. Add in Bellaire’s color choices really helped enhance Di Giandomenico’s pencils throughout. Read Full Review
