Castellucci and DiGiandomenicos brilliant execution of Babs chronicles amid a big, oppressive multi-title crossover speaks to a very deft mastery of the street-level superhero genre that should be great fun to see develop further once the title wheels itself out from underneath the massive machinery of The Year of the Villain.  Read Full Review

This is a great issue. Oracle is a really cool villain for Batgirl; there's an interesting motivation behind her and a lot of menace. Burnside is burning to the ground around them; the stakes are obviously high and personal. The art is good as well. I really enjoyed this issue. Read Full Review

You can't really ask for a better creative team than this. The story is pretty great and the artwork is positively stunning. I love what they are doing here and it is only getting more and more cool. Cecil Castellucci's narrative packs nearly all of the punch it sets out to, and definitely sets up a new potential status quo for Barbara going forward. Read Full Review

For all the forward movement that Carmine DiGiandomenico provides, it’s Jordie Bellaire’s colors that really make this issue “pop”. The burning of Burnside would only really work if the colors matched the tone and Bellaire makes you feel the flames coming off of the page and helps with the urgency of the situation. Batgirl and Oracle are both women on a mission. Barbara's goal is to stop the chaos, and find out just who set her beloved Burnside aflame, while Oracle is out for revenge. Everything she does in this issue is aimed at drawing Babs in for a confrontation. Through this it's made obvious she's as incomplete as she keeps saying, missing the one thing that really made Oracle work, Barbara Gordon. Read Full Review

It took me forever to get through this issue. It's all so very boring. I hope Batgirl is dead. What algorithm was Oracle adjusting? And what was X? You throw in things like Sentient AGI (which is redundant), but I don't think you really know what you're writing about. But that's fine. Why do I care about something so small? Because it's the only thing I really want to discuss in this comic. Nothing else interests me as much as technical sounding things being thrown at this wall of a script in hopes that it sticks.
