One small thing about this is the presence of OMAC in the returning heroes. They died in the Warworld special. Perhaps these pages were drawn before that was cemented? This was a lot of words about a comic. But there is so much pitch-perfect characterization here it deserves it. You want to know who the characters are? You want to see beautiful art? Action Comics #1047 kicks off a great new story. It hits all the right notes, which is expected from Kennedy at this point. Kal-El is back, as is Lex Luthor, and all is right with the world. Federici, Loughridge, Lapham, Mulvihill, and Sharpe provide excellent visuals that make this story work better than anyone could imagine. Action Comics #1047 delivers the welcome return of Clark Kent, aka Kal-El, aka Superman to Earth. The comic sees Superman doing classic superheroics stopping bad guys, saving lives, and kicking off the next story with the return of some popular villains. It's also a solid jumping-on point for new and longtime Superman readers. The comic issue also sees the return of Riccardo Federici as the main artist on the title. Don't know how long Federici will be on the book, but it will be great if he's on the book for at least the duration of this new story. Read Full Review

Action Comics #1047 gives us something big.... Superman is back! It's just too bad that he's still dealing with Warworld shenanigans and looks like he'll be doing it for the foreseeable future. Thankfully though we have some great art and Phillip Kennedy Johnson taking a stab at reworking Metallo into the mix, which I can't wait to see. Sadly though, the backup feels like nonsense...... Everything is just great in this issue. Action Comics is the best comic I read monthly easily. Story is stunning, art is stunning! And Lex and Metallo promises to be their worst versions (in a good way) so far. Can't wait.

This was very good. Fascinating to see PKJ tackle an earth-bound supes after he did such a great job with the first arc, and Federici's art is spectacular. Lex's characterization was on point, and the set up for Metallo has me hyped for the new direction they're taking this book.

This is, for the most part, just a celebration of Superman's unending optimism and I'm here for it. I just really like a an unabashedly positive Superman, that isn't bogged down by terrible side plots. Which is rarer than you'd think.

Wow, the cover of this is so bad. The faces are almost laughable. I'm so tired of the additional story I don't want. I'm so glad the Warworld story arc is over. Here we a filler issue where Superman brings a couple of the Warworld kids home with him. He reunites with his wife and gives a speech. Meanwhile, we set up Luthor being his notorious self. In the backup story - how does Superman suddenly have his supersuit when returning from Warworld? Come on - continuity, guys.

The suit took me way out of it too. Like come on, he hasn't had the damn thing for months. Who is even editing this book anymore?

Yeah just not feeling the start to this arc. Besides all the physics involved with Warworld appearing in Earths orbit I can push past comic book logic to some degree but it just seems rather stupid to me. It feels so un Superman here. I wouldn’t call this a let down but so far not the best of starts.
