While we've seen Superman inspiring others to hope on Warworld, we get a bit of a side story here that is totally welcome because while we all love the whole hopeful Superman thing, it feels like it's been a crutch to the storytelling and at this point, I'm looking for a little more. That more that I'm looking for starts out well here and with great art throughout and a great Martian Manhunter backup, this series remains a must-read. Read Full Review

Can't decide if I like PKJ's writing or Federici's art better. This book continues to be spectacular, easily the best thing DC is putting out right now. Although the plot was confined to that specific brawl, this issue was integral in displaying the turning point in the war. The revolution is underway and Mongul finally understands that he might be powerless to stop it. The Lois bookends are great as well, and I'm excited to see how the mystery of the Genesis Fragment unfolds.

PKJ's deep understanding of why Superman is wonderful remains a joy to read issue after issue, and Federici's visuals are stunning (though there was one page I had to stare at a moment before I realized which directions the panels were meant to be read in). Really the best Superman arc in many years

There are some great character moments here for Superman that make up for a story that doesn't move forward much. I really loved the art though. I think the backup was fine, but I really can't get behind backups as a concept still. Not to be a broken record, but after more than a year, I still feel like these backups are wasted time and money. The stories have to be small, or oddly structured, to work within the constraints of the format, and it leads to very safe, and rather boring stories. I'd rather just get a normal issue.

Story wise everything is humming along. I really liked the Lois parts. The art looks great but I’m sorry the action was rather confusing spatially. It felt very disjointed from the dialogue and what felt like was transpiring. The backup was just rather dumb. I mean really Jonn is talking about making new friends with friends clearly and pondering his existence as to why he’s lonely. Just dumb. Jonn has tons of friends and though he may yearn for Mars I thinks after darn near 69 years of comic history he’s moved past this.

Ugh...A slog to read this title. There should be 3 main stories a year, 4 issues each that have linking story arcs then the big pay off in the Annual issue. How hard is it to follow the formula? You want a series where new readers can jump into the story at just about any time of the year. This style of story arc is convoluted and not enjoyable.
