With so many Els around, they begin scanning for the Mafia. It is interesting to see the dots of lead lining in the city. And, despite a true Superman Family (thank you Mr. Bendis for using the term!), Leone isn't slowing down. She thinks she is safely hidden and is planning a final counterpunch.But we see how long the reach of the Mafia is. Dr. Glory, recent looter of STAR Labs, was under Leone's employ. Action Comics #1024 is good when Brian Michael Bendis stops joking around and gets emotional with Superman.  The issue gets bogged down with the usual deluge of word balloons, but Bendis is setting up a Superman that is mad as hell, and I want to be around when he can't take it anymore.  John Romita Jr's art is better than it has been on this book, and that all adds up to a decent Superman issue. Having the whole Super-family together for a mission could have been a lot of fun, but as it is they're mired in a story that feels way too dark for Superman and essentially guarantees that Red Cloud is likely to be shelved after this run rather than getting a chance to be a more fleshed-out character. Action Comics #1024 could have went either way- Bendis's track record on mid-story arc set-up issues isn't great, but this one ducks a lot of the problems that those comics of his have historically had. It sets things up and is entertaining throughout, not feeling drawn out at all and giving readers a nice ride that gets them excited for what's coming next. Romita Jr.'s art is better than it was last issue, which is a huge plus. Action Comics #1024 isn't perfect, but it's very good and leaves readers begging for more. Read Full Review

Though it has real heart and keen visual edge in parts, Action Comics #1024 gets tripped up by its own over-explained story threads. Should Bendis and company start to move away from that and cultivate more of the emotions of the Kent Family, then Action Comics could see a real upswing, but for now, #1024 does a lot more telling and not enough feeling. This seems to be singling the end of Brian Michael Bendis's run on Action Comics. If you have been following along since the start there are call backs to basically every aspect, going back to Action Comics #1001. However, the mess already made on this title is hard to overcome. Read Full Review

That panels of Brainiac 5 xD... And funny the parts between Supergirl and him. I hope they develop their relationship in this arc. And finally something good in this run down comic.

The only downfall might be it's slow and sluggish pace and complicated layers. Other than that, it's good.

This has probably been the best issue in a while for me. I think I’ve discovered my issue with JRJR art is that he cannot do faces. I loved the double page at the end where the Superman family arrives at Whisper. There was another panel or two I really enjoyed, and that’s when I realized there were basically no faces in them. This issue actually had some good plot movement, but m the dialogue still remained clunky and awkward. Kara’s dialogue in particular felt very off to me.

Once more the Critics kiss up to Bendis while the readers call for his departure from this book. Reminds me of Politics. But as usual I'm inclined to agree once again with my fellow readers. Romita Jr. just doesn't have that touch he did about 20 years ago in Spider-Man, and Bendis REALLY has lost the touch he had with Ultimate Spider-Man. This same crap has dragged on and on and on over the last 2 years like a soap opera plot, and it doesn't seem anyone cares what happens and just wants it over and Bendis OUT. I say Piss on any big Anime-style 6-issue long showdown he wants to do. Just end this crap already. 2 years with some of the crappiest villains in all comic history and plots with no end in sight are not what we want. The reviews I' ve read tell that. And I thought the days when they tried to make the comics more like the horrible '90s cartoon 20 years ago were bad... The impact of "The Big reveal" has sucked beyond anything I'd even imagined. This issue is proof of that. The cover is 100% off-throwing. Clark isn't the new boss. Hell, he doesn't even turn to Clark in this issue. A piece of advice to Bendis: Kill off Red cloud in the end. I NEVER want to see her or the Invisible Mafia again once this is over (Providing it ever will be). I'm not Psychic, but you don't have to be either to predict that one day when people look at the career as a writer Bendis has made that his time on Superman will be a very popular part of it. And a word of advice to DC: Don't any of you even Dream of considering thinking of letting Bendis EVER try to write Batman. more

There is so much talking in this issue, and most of the time it's inane bullshit. But this issue actually managed to work for two or three pages. It was an amazing spectacle, you should've been there. When Superman had to deal with death, it honestly worked for me. I didn't think Bendis was capable of that anymore but, turns out, he is. Now, I'm not entirely sure why the Invisible Mafia did it? It seems like a self defeating plan. I also could not care less about what's happening with the Daily Planet. But like, those two or three pages gave this issue a boost. It's not going to be a good score, but it'll be better than what Action Comics usually gets.

Another Crapfest issue of Action Comics. This comic is horrible, from the art to the over use of speech bubbles it's just bad. The art is little more than rough sketches on some pages. I mean draw the picture or don't, this isn't an art style it's a half ass effort just to collect a pay check. On one page an FBI agent has no nose or mouth...WHAT THE HELL IS THAT? The only good thing I can say about this book is that they killed of Melody Morre. What a completely useless character, almost as useless and uninteresting as the Red Cloud or Leviathan. I can not wait until they bring in a writer who understands the balance between dialogue and pictures to tell a story as well as an artist who can actually draw.
