Absolute Power: Super Son #1 feels like a hype book presented as a tie-in to the Absolute Power event. While the event is relevant to where Jon's headed, I don't think the opposite is true. Absolute Power: Super Son #1 takes a deep dive into Jon Kent's mind as he subconsciously battles the vestiges of Brainiac Queen's programming. The issue starts and ends well enough, but the chaotic visions through most of the middle are tough to follow. Shout out to Κυανό for the most unhinged review of the year. I mostly liked this. I just wish the ending had more teeth to it. I felt like maybe they were setting up Dreamer and Jon to be an item, but maybe they're just great friends. Either way, it would've been exciting for this clash between Jon and Jay to have more oomph and consequence. Maybe they should've broken up here. Jay as a character seems like a vestige of Taylor's Superman run, carried over but not really needed or wanted. We could give Jon some interesting pathos by doing it as well, as he often seems just as stagnant. But I guess a little hand-waving and "Oh, you"s is enough to get over your mother's assassination.

A solid read, although I don't think I needed this to be as long as it was to get the point across. Interesting that we're getting tension between Jon and Jay, even if it was momentarily resolved for the time being. I read all of Tom Taylor's Superman: Son of Kal-El series, and I don't remember a whole lot of Jay's character from it, so I wouldn't really mind him fading into the background a bit. I'm intrigued to see whether or not the, what I perceived to be, romantic tension between Jon and Nia is followed up, as I assume she won't end up being dead or she'll be resurrected somehow.

This was NOT an easy comic to read - while I enjoyed the art … the story was … um … in my opinion … near-unreadable. It’s a shame it was so important to the overall Absolutely Power storyline.

The worst state quo in history, they make him an adult to make him gay and that any degenerate can have relationships with someone underage, because they could make him look like an adult but he lacks his own experiences, therefore it is like abusing a person neurodivergent with mental retardation. I hate the degenerate who came up with this idea. And as for their adventures, well they are the most boring thing worse than a bad and slow European woke movie.

But... he does have his own experiences. He didn't just go from 10 to 18 years old. He was kidnapped by Ultraman for a few years and then spent time in space with Jor-El. So he's an adult. It's weirder that people want him to de-age back to a child now that he's a fully functioning and developed adult.
