Dawnrunner #3

I try my best not to hand out 10's, but I honestly feel like Dawnrunner is going to consistently pull them out of me. This story is fun and emotional. It's also fascinating thanks to the lore and world building by Ram V. I'm neck deep into this world and I just want to keep swimming further out to sea. I'm enamored with the Tetza and what they really mean for Earth. I can't wait to see the Iron Kings square off with them as they get bigger and stronger. I want to know how Anita will be effected by Takeda's mind creeping into hers. There are so many strings to pull on and none of it feels overwhelming. Read Full Review

Outstanding in every way. The layers of the story draw you into both timelines simultaneously to the extent you wish you were reading 2 stories side by side as one. Genius writting and the Manga art adds layers to an otherwise brilliant script. It feels lately that we are witnessing the dawn of an new kind of graphic comic and I predict that other writers will follow Ram V in exploring this kind of concept.

This series really feels like the best parts of anime/manga combined with western comics, and not just because of the presence of mecha and kaiju. The concepts and tropes have a Japanese feel as well. In fact, the first anime that came to mind when thinking about how to illustrate the similarity is Ghost in the Shell. The moments of conversation between Anita and Ichiro have a similar aura of calm and introspection like when Major Kusanagi is ruminating on what makes a person a person, or when she is talking to the Puppet Master. Really interesting and enjoyable stuff. The art is incredible, loving every panel of every page. Just beautiful stuff. The action and politics are good too, well written and interesting. Loving this book

Still has some unanswered questions. It's still a really good read. This issue really ramped it up.
