Next issue's where the rubber meets the road.

On it's own, I love how the entire issue consists of Batman's interior monologue, as his thoughts jump around between strategy, memories, observations and interjections. All while moving the story forward and maintaining the tension --just great. This issue also ties in ,both directly and indirectly, with Mister Miracle. Batman references MM as he tries to escape. But the line between reality and dreams (or illusion) is also blurred. We're left not knowing into which group this story falls --much like King and Gerads recent MM run. Batman #61 also dealt with the theme of reality not being what it seems. It's cool to see King's interests cross between issues and titles.

This is how you launch a title. Great everything.

This entire series needs more speedlines.

This book continues to top itself. Everything is top-notch, with some great touches (the apt. layout, for example, or the flashback about eating flesh). I love everything about this book.

Somehow exceeded the high expectations I had after last years "Vision" and "Sheriff of Babylon".

Future classic. Tom King is writing books so far beyond most of the drivel published today.

Honestly, this deserves a 10, but I need room to go once the story gets rolling!

Brubaker's covered so much ground in 12 issues, and the story keeps moving forward in this issue. Velvet's plans within plans are exhilarating to witness.
