Though this issue is particularly dialogue heavy, the story is solid. Self/Made holds a couple of interesting plot threads together with a fascinating take on the inner life of a would-be simulated person. Clearly Amala will only get more powerful as time goes on, but what happens to management might be fun. Especially Bryce, he deserves whatever is coming to him. Read Full Review

I thought this was issue one... I don't know, I chalk it up to me being a dumbass, lol... That being said, this series seems to be pretty sweet, definitely putting this in my pull list and going to get issue one.

With the annoying and corny fantasy world of the game from last issue consigned to dust (hopefully) the story picks up in this issue. Amala, the sentient NPC, is an interesting character, and more so than any of the humans. Indeed, issue two's big problem is that none of the humans are particularly believable. This is in no small measure due to some low quality dialogue, but also stems from a lack of logical motivation to their actions; these are not characters, they are ciphers who can be used to advance the plot. In fact the sentient NPC is more rounded than the humans. It is possible that this is a deliberate decision by Groom, either as a form of meta-commentary, or because we are actually seeing a world within a world. The latter of t hose would be an interesting reveal a few more issues in, but it could just be sloppy writing. more
