Great issue that builds a lot of excitement for the future of this iteration of Batman's rogues gallery. Felt like it tried to do too much with one issue though, three origin stories is a lot and the flashback storyline with Selina and Bruce was a little out of place.

Pacing is all over the place but it sticks the landing.

Wesley Dodds mentioned we move. God the reveals in this are just all time. Glad I got to this issue before the spoilers got to me.

I don't know if this one did it for me, seemed like it didn't know exactly what to do with everything going on, and I wasn't a huge fan of the resolution.

I like this run. And contrary to some other feelings I've seen, I think this issue gave too much information. Eldritch stories work best with very very little details of whats actually going on, it creates suspense and unknown and lets us fill in details without it becoming lore-dumpy. This was cool though, excited for more.

Best line in the best universe comics has right now.

Man Wonder Woman just rules in this run. Her characterization is incredible and she is a force of will and personality. When many of the other absolute heroes are mopey or angsty in their situations, she cannot be broken. Can't wait for the conclusion of this arc

Transformative Justice Queen

Great issue, Classic stuff

They always make it as hard for Peter as possible. He's in the middle of getting absolutely creamed while battling a serious fever and they just throw in some relationship drama in the middle just for fun. So funny seeing how a fever is dealt with then compared to now. "Oh wow your cough could probably infect the whole city," Harry says while sitting a foot away from him in an enclosed car.

This one is such a banger, as a Spiderman villain team up usually is, I do love how Spiderman decides he's the only one who gets to beat up on his adversaries, and doesn't let them fight each other. I do wish Stan Lee would allow for a little more showing than telling, Romita is doing a great job, we don't need the constant meticulous play by play.

Might be the best versions of MJ and Gwen. Era-defining artwork.

These covers continue to outdo themselves every issue. Love a good story where the superhero is in way over their head.

DC just loves to introduce a list of c-league heroes for the sake of it.

I feel like we have lost the plot a little bit here.

Everything that doesn't take place in the rotworld is excellent. Ready for the team ups to end and Animal Man to get back to what works.

Maxine's plotline carrying this arc hard. At least they are rolling out a-listers now in this parade of cameos they are doing in rotworld.

Okay this was a good issue, but every big moment was cheapened by the entire rotworld arc, which was completely unnecessary in my opinion. Why spend the whole first arc of this run exploring what can be done with the superhero genre and reinventing the character with a dark grounded tone when you are just going to throw that all aside to have more side characters than you know what to do with running around fighting the zombie justice league. This issue brings us back to what works with the series, but at this point we've seen so many death retcons that I don't even take the big moments seriously anymore. They showed Maxine getting infected and now they are just gonna act like that didn't happen. We finally get a huge payoff with Maxine's powers as well, but all the set up was done two issues ago (3 if you count the swamp thing issue) so it doesn't hit as hard. And now they end with another death and I'm skeptical that that isn't going to get retconned too.

Any issue that features the totems is an automatic banger

One of the best issues, great art, great story beats, juxtaposition between Buddy's trials and Maxine coming into her power is well done, and of course the totems shine as always.

Banger art yet again, just wish there were more panels, quick read.

Bonkers Bananas Batshit insanity!

Honestly I miss when Ellen was being unhinged. Seeing a "glued to your smart phones" reference over a decade ago makes me feel old.

What an incredible run, baker vs the evil totem is the best fight in this series. Jeff Lemire eat your heart out for the work you put in these 28 issues. Adding Sweet Tooth to my list because o this and Absolute Flash.

Good ending, interesting art change though I appreciate honoring the work Foreman put into this series. Lemire offering some not bad pencilling himself.

The art is great and there are some pretty cool moments.

Way too much going on at the end.

Kind of a mess, feels disjointed and the art/writing is often confusing.

There were some parts that were fun

Kind of baffling resolution, a little too convenient there for Daredevil.

Oftentimes in life we think about all the moments we've missed, what we wish we had, doors that have opened. And each of those moments is a portal, a portal to a different life, sometimes for the better, or sometimes for the worse. Any moment can open us to that life we dream of, or take everything away.

Hard to rate each article because although each of them is exemplary, it's really what they accomplish as a collection that stays with you and leaves an impact.

I just feel like it would've made more sense to have him die at the ranch this time. Seemed like there were enough dangerous possibilities and the return to the city at the end felt random.

Tear jerker, so sweet. We have really come to know Bras at this point. Allowing us to feel him on each page even though he doesn't even appear in this issue.

This issue convinced me I need this book on my shelf

So incredibly beautiful. I will carry this story with me for a while and can only hope to go out on my own terms like Bras.

This premise is so goofy but its fun.

I'ma just judge this on its cover story, which is has surprisingly tight writing. A Deadpool comic is only as good as his jokes and these ones are great.

The greatest trick of all is how King and Gerads escape having to do 3.5 pages in this comic if you add up all the Darkseid Is panels ;)

This is good but the art is a tad overhyped

Just captivating, I love MM's nonchalant vibe in the face of it all, he is both numb to and has succumbed to the insanity.

I was reading it, thinking about how much I want to read this book to my kids one day and then it goes full body horror hahahaha

This is just stuffed to the gills with big emotional moments, this comic has some of the most soul of maybe any I've ever read.

Masterful pacing, we learn alot about whats happening and are left with more questions than we started. Couldn't put this one down if I wanted to.

Time travel is hard to pull off in story telling, but this series is pulling it off masterfully, can't wait to see where it goes.

This article really picks up the pace and the flashback is cute. Great art.

Ohh we are really picking up steam now. I'm most on the edge of my seat for what happens with KJ and Mac.

Wow this is excellent. Lemire rarely disappoints, the watercolor is pretty good though not as transcendent as Peach Momoko

I think I see the people talking about how this ends up just being another Damian. Who is this child sized man Robin has at knife point???? Touching ending.

I don't know if this is for me tbh, and given what we know about Gaiman now, it's relieving that I won't have to read any further.

Wow, such great tension building and a huge pay off in the end. This is the comic I look forward to the most each month and this one certainly didn't pay off. Glued to each page.

This is the best comic series ever

I usually expect a little bit more of a punch from Hickman, though there is one! Good comic overall, I know a lot of people have been begging for more character development and explaining motivations, this issue definetely has that.

This issue was really scattered and the first one where I will agree with some of the nay-sayers that the story took a hit due to its following of the month an issue format. It all felt very rushed but also like a punt story-wise. This would have worked with better build up and more space for the climax, I worry that next issue is going to feel like a complete transportation from where we last left off with Peter and the gang. Also convenient way to avoid any fall out or follow up from the climax of the last issue. The montage near the end feels like a slap in the face, that's the story I wanted to see.

Sometimes the pacing is off and jarring at times, but the art and the personalities really shine. Love these cute little guys. Would probably benefit from a longer format like others have mentioned, but I'm still glad we have it.

I really like how they are building up the public resentment of mutants piece of the story. I imagine that will soon make the Children of Atom even more dangerous in their fervor.

If you think this mystery is unravelling slowly, I'd love to know what you think about Persona 5's pacing haha

I think it's really hit its stride here. Art as always, captivating.

Re-imagined danger room is great.

Solid fight, solid set up.

Alright its very silly and the pacing is spastic but it has some pretty awesome moments, the team finally coming together for an organized mission (cyclops wya), dark armor is soooo cool, some great powers being put on display, the reveal at the end, and of course as always the phenomenal watercolor style.

So so so needed. Camp does it again. In a series about a HUGE team of superheroes, Camp manages to deliver an emotional, important, engaging story that focuses on none of them

Kitty Pryde is instantly awesome and has a ton of character. Good issue all around but wow Claremont was totally lost when trying to write for the "hip" Dazzler.

This comic suffers heavily from Claremont's tendency to overexposition. Storm I don't need you to tell me that Shaw has grabbed your ankle, the artists have done a great job of showing that already. Also what the hell are Jean and Warren doing on page 2? Jean making out with everyone in this run lol.

Claremont has sort of lost me at this point, action scenes just jam packed with unneccessary dialogue and narrative. Awesome to see Wolverine in action like this and the character being developed but its such a far cry from the character we know today with the overexposition and underutilization of his powers, seeing him be so scared of being hurt is kind of a jolt for example. Not to mention to the weird interaction between Jean and Storm... gross.

Pretty decent. I think the superhero stuff ends up being a distraction for the grounded story King is trying to tell. A little heavy handed with its message as well. This issue is a highlight though.

Amazing cover. Also excellent depiction of the trolley problem here for the Avengers. Don't know if I agree with them.

So bittersweet in a series that is just heavy with emotion all the way through. Couldn't put it down during the last issues. Second work of Tom King's that I've read after Supergirl and Supergirl is my favorite comic work ever. Sidenote: I love that they bring back the dog but not Vin.

I remember as a kid thinking the pirate comic excerpts were so boring and droll and trying to skip over them as fast as possible. Now I am completely entranced. I wish more comics were written like that, Alan Moore is just flexing his writing prowess in a comic within his own masterpiece. Meanwhile it all comes together, bringing in so many themes about power, loneliness, God, and nuclear anxiety it's almost dizzying. Top top top top top notch writing, one of one.

God I remember how boring I used to think this issue was as a kid, now its a complete a total mindfuck! The tale is so compelling and artistically spun, the most powerful being in the world can't actually change anything around him. Reading this had me racking my mind with all the layers, is it a play on the classic all powerful Superman character? The way no matter how great his powers, he is fixed within the construct of the writer's story? Or is it a continuing of the Cold War allegory, no matter how much a country strengthens it's own power, it cannot change the outcome if we do reach nuclear holocaust? I don't know but I fucking love it.

Every issue in this series is a goddamn classic, adding to the larger framework as well as telling a contained and artistically beautiful story. With Fearful Symmetry Moore has fleshed out the allegories he wants to present the reader, allowing them to reflect against each other in full. As far as we may feel we are from Cold War sentiment, this series shows us how close the possibility of nuclear holocaust will always be.

Pure art, and in the age in which we can go online and see endless atrocities and the anger and hate this breeds for one another, it is more relevant than ever. You stare into the abyss, and it stares back.

The feelings of angst that Moore is portraying here are done almost too well, to the point where I have always tried to rush through this comic because of it. In the other issues, that angst is often global, but here it is so personal.

This issue again has so much going on and often Moore can thread the needle to make it work fantastically, juggling the concepts and messages he is trying to convey with the allegory that he is simultaneously trying to create, all leading to the impact and convergence of ideas at the end of the issue. Compared to most of his contemporaries, this issue is brilliant, but compared to the other issues in this series, it misses the mark for me, just slightly, and only because he has done it so well, time after time. Also we got two Dr. Manhattan issues before we got a single Ozymandias one??

Moore abandons most of his long musings and weavings to focus on the plot advances and this turns into quite the exciting and more traditional superhero story. There are some really great panels in this one too. This is also the first time I'm realizing Veidt's got his own fortress of solitude in this universe. Also Rorschach actually showing fear here, actually saving the world instead of beating up low level criminals not as easy or fun as it sounds.

God this is a masterpiece in villain monologuing, and the inversion of the trope in the last line with his reveal of the timing is the masterstroke. Moore capitalizing on every send up of the genre he possibly can, and the infamous one about to happen.

There is so much I could say and so many thoughts upon finishing this masterpiece, and it is one of the best comics of the series, probably of all time as well. But I will just say this: So much of the comic book medium punches well below its weight class, and trust me I'm a fan of the classic superhero stuff. But Alan Moore here shows us what the medium can look like at its absolute best. Combining written word with the visual medium has the ability to tell and show stories that books and art alone simply cannot, even the movie version of this work, despite being almost panel for panel, doesn't capture the weight of what Moore presents and the density of it all as well. I could read this over and over again and still uncover something new each time, a new metaphor, a new call back, something hidden in one of the panels I missed at first glance. This makes me proud to be a comic book fan. Cheers.
