Black Nerd Problems - Jordan Calhoun
Apr 06, 2017Overall, another issue you would find yourself woefully inept to summarize yet incredibly satisfied to read. You can't explain Paper Girls, not and do it any justice, at least. You have to read it to believe it, and you'll be glad you did. Look forward to more pieces of the puzzle in the coming issues, especially the ones that will guide our way to those flash-forward scenes that are bound to happen. Then turning around and dropping a bomb in the last few pages, leaving you questioning everything you thought. Time travel is hard to pull off in story telling, but this series is pulling it off masterfully, can't wait to see where it goes.

"Paper Girls" brings it every time. This is another issue that is perplexing, but in the most fascinating of ways. This world is deep and filled with surprises. What is here every issue, including this one, is great dialogue and character work by Vaughan, and some of the best art in the business from Cliff Chiang.

The middle of the arcs are the slowest issues in my opinion. Still, the writing and the art are excellent. I particularly enjoy the repetitions of panels structures. They're always surprising and fit perfectly with the time travel theme. And the ending is extremely unsettling!

Best value on the stands. You get a quality comic, a poster, good page count, quality paper, minimal delays between story arcs and it's only $2.99. This may be a masterpiece when it's all said and done.
