dang! so this was what everyone had been waiting such a long time for? ...with all the delays and now this mostly poor received conclusion, wonder if they are going to continue with this series, or if this is it? ...personally i think they'd do well to quit while their ahead.
Doom Patrol #12
| Writer | Gerard Way |
| Artist | Dan McDaid |
| Cover Price | $3.99 |
Something normal is happening to the Doom Patrol. Which means not weird, since their own normal is very weird. There are mysterious forces at work, unseen hands rewriting history, and the change is so gradual, the team doesn't even necessarily see how much they are changing. The end of our second big DOOM PATROL arc leads into big things to come next month!

Oct 31, 2018This is probably one of the best all around books Ive seen in a while. Doom Patrol #12 embraces the fantasy theme and goes all in, in a big, fun way. 5 out of 5 stars. Read Full Review

Oct 31, 2018Doom Patrol #12 jumps into the fantasygenre and continues to explore issues about family as well as the power of storytelling itself in an issue that lovingly celebrates classic tabletoprole-playing games. Read Full Review

Comicosity - Doug Zawisza
Nov 01, 2018Doom Patrol #12 is a great divergence. It's not a Doom Patrol story, but there really is no better place in the current DC Universe to introduce this type of tale. There's potential for the further adventures of the Reynolds family, and I hope we get to read them one day. Next time I see a Doom Patrol title on the racks, though, I really hope it includes Robotman, Crazy Jane, Negative Man, and the rest of the Niles Caulder's collection of outcasts in some combination or other. Maybe the Reynoldses can appear, or even have a backup tale, but the focus should be on Doom Patrol itself. Read Full Review

Nov 04, 2018Doom Patrol #12 is a fun issue with solid artwork although the overall story feels more like a backup than anything else. Read Full Review

Dec 31, 1969Well-conceived and well-drawn, with some smart use of D&D "shorthand" while maintaining roots in reality. I have missed this book. Read Full Review

Nov 01, 2018I've been moved. But, that's been the hallmark of the Young Animal Comics line, every title has found a way to delve deeper and addresses universal themes in the context of super-hero comics. As this issue wraps up this run of the line, it reminds me that there is always hope for the future. Read Full Review

Nov 01, 2018A quote from author Julia Quinn goes, "You always get more respect when you don't have a happy ending." I respect the massive creative forces behind Doom Patrol sufficiently to make me suspicious of issue #12 as the end of the run. Nostalgic and sweet, yes. But like finding your first TSR plastic 20-sider replacing the d20 of a new Meteorite and Opal inlaid artisan set, you consign yourself that they'll all still roll. It would just be nice if the set matched. Read Full Review

Nov 02, 2018I really hope that the remainder of the team pop up again, and this is not just some weird new version of the Doom Patrol. I have loved the group in most of their incarnations, but this is not what I want out of the title. Not at all. Read Full Review

Nov 02, 2018Maybe there will be future issues of this series that will give us something more substantial. The first 11 issues are great. This one just feels empty and forgets what the audience has responded to. Hopefully it picks up. This comic book series has been a a great and reliable title. This issue is not. Read Full Review

Oct 31, 2018Delays notwithstanding, this book is a rip-off. Even fans of the Reynolds clan from this series–all six of you–will feel cheated by this crap. I've no specific beef with the art team, except for their involvement here. Choose better projects. Read Full Review
