This is shaping up to be another banger event. I'm always down for more Apocalypse related stories and making Doug Ramsey interesting is a true testament to the power of Apocalypse. The writing and art were both great. Looking forward to this event.

It was meh. I'll pick and choose what to read of the event itself (excited for Hickman on Longshots). The decision to go almost entirely with Shen Xorn narrating the events made for a pretty dull read. And when the entire thing is retread of AoA, its even duller. There's an inkling of good ideas (parallels to manifest destiny) to, but come on, a mutant zombie plague? Zombies have been tired for at least a decade now. Art was fine, I'm not a huge Ramos fan, but not his worst work.

This isn’t Jed McKay‘s worst writing, however we‘ve seen it all before. Age of Revelation is nothing new. In fact, it’s a rehash of Age of Apocalypse, a concept that didn’t work for me in the 90s and doesn’t work for me now ( or the half a dozen other times Marvel has tried to shock us with an alternate version of the X-Men). I’m not interested in other versions of the X-Men and I don’t want to buy sixteen new titles to get one story that we all know didn’t happen in the end anyway. I want good stories featuring the characters I know and love, but Marvel doesn’t seem to be interested in grounded storytelling anymore. Between Marvel trying to gaslight us into believing Ms. Marvel is the greatest mutant ever and this re dundant crossover bullshit, I can only come to the conclusion that the X-Men I love are dead and gone.
