X-Men #12

X-Men #12 gets readers ready for X Of Swords, answering a lot of questions and asking even more. Hickman is building something great with this one, and it will be wonderful to see where it goes next. Yu's art is perfect for this issue, making Hickman's script come to life. If this issue is any indication, X Of Swords will be great. Read Full Review

X-MEN #12 was a strong issue to give readers some much-needed background for the X OF SWORDS event. Even though the heavy verbiage and unique wording lent to an introductory montage the likes of LORD OF THE RINGS, the premise of the event became a bit more defined and forthright. Hints of an Apocalyptic romance graced the pages with a foundation built upon secrets, hidden demons, and otherworldly battalions and onslaughts. This reader just wishes more clarity could have been surmised over the massive nature of the material Hickman shared. Either way, X-MEN fans will have a rather difficult time reading this issue and not getting super excited about X OF SWORDS. I know I am! Grab X-MEN #12 and let me know what you think. At this point in Hickman X-Men, you're either all in or you're off the bus. I've been all in, and just upgraded my seats to first class. I love what Hickman has been doing w the X-Men, and I'm beyond excited for X of Swords

This was really interesting and I'm glad X of Swords finally has a story attached to it. I'm really unsure about it being 24 (or so) issues long across multiple titles, but if this works, it'll be be huge.

The scale is huge. I read it twice and enjoyed it very much. It had to be done because X of Swords is here and we need a primer. I hope we go into more details about what transpired here. If Hickman actually had 6 issues to deliver what this issue was about, people would have rioted and jumped ship so I understand the tight fit. Yu and Gho delivered a great issue and will be missed going forward.

Hickman does a great job at writing interesting stories and Yu does a great job at drawing characters. What's new? In all seriousness, this is great. Yes, it's very much an information dump as we head into the large-scale X of Swords crossover, but it's written well enough to be worth the read. The Summoner has been a super mysterious and intriguing character since his first appearance and I'm really glad we got to see a bit of his origin. X of Swords is looking good already with this prelude.

Can see someone either hating or loving this issue. Im always down for more lore building and it seems were getting something big as apocalypse is making final preparations for something. The lore was interesting, i like the new additions to apocalypse's life and the art is always good with yu.

This was pretty good. I think the lore is interesting enough that an issue entirely composed of exposition is interesting...but barely.

I have to be honest: I think this series is the weakest among all the mutants ones. Hickman is probably a genius (he creates universes and species with scientific details in this series), but almost all his stories feel... Empty. We read of all these characters (Xavier, Magneto, Apocalypse, Wolverine, Summers family, Jean Grey...) but nothing happens. Flashbacks, metaphors, ideas. I personally think that New Mutants and especially X-Force are definitely more interesting and less bland.

The ideas were ok but I had to read it a few times to understand what was going on. Came off confusing. Am I missing something by not reading the other titles? It really wasnt a comic I enjoyed too much.
