X-Factor #4 is a nonsensical one-and-done mission that keeps the team busy doing nothing important as an excuse to have Cecilia make up with her ex-boyfriend. Plot X-Factor's new mission is to find some scientists who were studying the center of the Earth. Since Xyber is on leave, they are going to attract a teleporter. Havok, Frenzy, Pyro, Cecilia Reyes and the teleporter are the rescue team. Havok leaves Granny Smite at the base of operations because if the mission fails she will be trapped for life. The teleporter is Oskar aka Wintergeist, Cecilia's ex-boyfriend, who explains to her that he had to ghost her because she worked for Darkstar on the X-Term team, the Russian/mercenary version of X-factor and when she left them, they killed her entire family. In the center of the Earth, they discover that there are spiders that eat metal, which is why the previous mission failed and the sc ientists died. A magnificent new installment that narrates another suicide mission of this new team, where the mystery behind Fartech still is around. Art With textures and details, Bob Quinn achieves a fusion between the classic X-Factor designs but modernizes them with cool designs. The action sequences use interesting angles and poses from classic eras. Summary X-Factor includes a new member that shakes up Cecilia Reyes' past. Exciting new suicide mission that only X-Factor can execute. more

This issue was ok, but I didn't like it as much as the previous three. The "I lied to you/left you because anyone that gets close to me ends up dying" trope is pretty played out and nothing about this time makes it worthwhile. Not a bad issue per se, but not up to par with the rest of the current run of X-books.

This is the best of the current X-books in my opinion. It's not great, but at least I don't hate it.

It's a fun time, but nothing particularly noteworthy. The main adventure is fine, but this was probably at its best during the panels with Cecilia and Oskar. Even then, as another reviewer pointed out, it's a trope that has been done time and time again, even if I did like it here. Aside from that, Quinn's art continues to be a highlight. Also, R.I.P. to Pyro's face tattoo. You will forever be in our hearts.
