X-Factor #5

All in all, X-Factor #5 is a wonderful comic. It feels like a well-tuned orchestra ending their first performance and leaving the audience begging for more. Williams does a lot of great things in this issue and, with the help of Baldeon's art, weaves multiple plotlines and emotional beats throughout the book, setting things up for what's to come. If this issue is any indication, X-Factor is going to be a great book. Read Full Review

Overall this book comes back from ‘X of Swords’ and knocks yet another outstanding issue out of the park. This is a prime example of how you can have a low key story but it still be just as engaging as the action packed ones. Read Full Review

David Baldeon consistently delivers stellar art and this issue is no exception. The lighter quality of the plot gives the art the ability to be both energetic, beautifully detailed and fun to look at. Baldeon does great work with the facial expressions of these characters and you get a sense of real emotion from them throughout. Read Full Review

I appreciated that the comic delved a bit deeper into Krakoan culture and brought back a bunch of the Academy X characters to celebrate Wind Dancer's return and re-powering. Read Full Review

I absolutely LOVED X-Factor #5! Felt like a classic Claremont quiet issue full of fun and interesting character interactions. Hands-down the best issue of X-Factor so far. Leah Williams' writing is definitely improving with each issue.

Wind Dancer has been returned and her fellow New X-Men rejoice. All this joy surrounding her, but Emma Frost still feels the heartache and the loss of losing the true Rockslide forever. In his new altered form, Rachel searches his mind for memories but finds the new Rockslide only ever existed up to the point of his failed resur rection. The night moves forward with all embracing the happiness of life. Northstar and Aurora, fully reunited at last, are alerted by a startling scream and puzzled to discover the dead body of Siryn who had apparently fallen to her death despite having the ability of flight. This issue made me happy. One of my favorite X-Men teams was the New X-Men and it was just a lot of fun to finally see so many of them back together. I love that the Five appear to play a substantial role in this book and I hope it continues. David Baldeón’s art throughout the book is really nice. The scene of Wind Dancer’s resurrection is very well done. The team recovers after the big event and the blip in the resurrection protocols. Changed characters - Rockslide, Aurora, Wind Dancer - are welcomed back to the fold. I like, in theory, the expansive roster and the way the Five have become X-Factor's B-team. But the art is killing me, particularly in a "survey" issue that rotates through the whole team plus a lot of party guests. I love David Baldeon's art in general. He's terrific at character rendering. That panel of Polaris mockingly imitating Daken? Glorious. But here he's also on a psychotic quest to shrink his characters down as much as humanly possible, and it really hurts the comic. "Who's that talking to Rockslide? Well, there's a smudge of green on top of the stick figure; I guess that's Polaris too." more

I see some evolution, there's some good moments, but the bad ones really overflow and take over the issue. Daken it's the worst version of the characther so far, Northstar and Aurora are so flat that I just don't care for them, Rachel and David are good trought . The art's definetly not for me, the script still feels like is trying to hard to be ''tumblr & twitter'', but again, I see some evolution, maybe changing the creative team helps. I'll stick around to see what's next.

There are some moments I really liked, but for some reason everything William's write looks like fanficton to me. The art was good but nothing fantastic.

Leah's writing is just not doing anything for me now. Like even the art doesn't make me want to read this comic book anymore. Which is a shame, because I really like Lorna, Jean-Paul and Rachel.
