Comic Watch - Gabriel De Jesus

    Feb 03, 2021

While it is difficult to delve into the work the issue does without spoiling the ending and the twist, it is worth highlighting. X-Factor #7 weaves moments generated for the fandom with an understanding of trauma too frequently ignored or understated. While it is clear before the ending that there is still plenty more to come, there is also a spot of light as the roster of hurting characters lean on each other to heal. Read Full Review

Overall this book continues to be a juggernaut in the x-lineup. It’s one of the best series not only for LGBTQ2IA+ representation but for deep emotional relationships and stories with a fun quirkiness to them. Don’t sleep on this series. Read Full Review

The new storyline really kicks into high gear with this issue, with a lot of great character work to help carry it along. X-Factor is firing on all cylinders when it comes to storytelling and art. Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - David Harth

    Feb 03, 2021

X-Factor #7 is a good comic. Williams focuses a lot on the characters, but the issue is very slow-paced. It kind of makes the main plot feel unimportant in a lot of ways, almost like it's just incidental to everything else. The whole Siryn mystery is resolved rather quickly, but the end of the issue cliffhanger does a great job in making it feel more important than the rest of the story does and works very well. Baldeon's art is great, but that's pretty much his default setting at this point. X-Factor #7 works, but it doesn't balance the character drama with the main plot very well and almost fumbles the ball. Read Full Review

I really enjoyed this one. Also, Age of X being referenced makes 2019 me relieved that I didn't totally waste my time with that event.

Another entertaining issue of X-Factor from Williams and Baldeon! As per usual, most cast members get a moment or two to shine, further proving Williams' talent for writing team books. I'm invested in this Siryn-centric story and the tease at the end promises a pretty intense showdown between X-Factor and Morrigan.

X-Factor's Siryn investigation is delayed by her hypnotizing Polaris, and Daken pays the price. I really like what we learn about the characters and how they interact. The art's good, too. But organization and structure remain this title's weak spots; no matter how much I like the material, I can't overlook that it could be presented much more clearly without sacrificing any of its positives.

Poorly paced. Some scenes take their time and then others just zoom by so quickly you don't even understand the seriousness of the situation. Some panel layouts were pretty bad too, and the retcon on Daken's powers is so cowardish. Just accept that your character's powerset has a problem and build the story around it. At least one of the scenes that took it's time was pretty good, which is Speed's.
