    Nerd Initiative - ShawnFoles

Overall this is a really good start to the story as we march towards Armageddon. It feels different than a general X-Men comic that features Wolverine. It feels more Logan than Wolverine even and honestly, I love that. There’s a lot of room to grow into Armageddon and what is coming but if this book is setting the tone of what we may see, I like where the art and narrative is headed Read Full Review

Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon #1 is off to a roaring start, honoring the past while adding something new to the Weapon X mythos. The story is gripping, the art is dynamic and the colors are gorgeous. Read Full Review

Despite a couple minor nitpicks, Weapons of Armageddon is still an exciting opening salvo for what promises to be an intriguing event. The story is engaging and the art more than keeps up the pace to create a very fun time. Read Full Review

Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon #1 is a nice debut issue but also a nice build up to whatever event is coming. Read Full Review

    KPB Comics - A.S Tiger

    Feb 19, 2026

Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon #1 is a simple but effective Wolverine tale. Readers excited for Armageddon might be a bit disappointed by the familiarity of this story; it is a classic Wolverine tale. But it is well told, and there is enough mystery in the strange box, as well as in the presence of certain other figures from Marvel that lend this comic intrigue. The art is competent, though the colors don’t quite mesh with the pencils. < Read Full Review

    AIPT - David Brooke

    Feb 18, 2026

Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon #1 delivers a measured, mystery-driven start that leans heavily on Weapon Plus lore and Logan’s haunted past rather than high-octane action. Chip Zdarsky focuses on groundwork and intrigue, while Luca Maresca keeps the pages visually engaging despite limited combat. The issue succeeds as a careful setup for Armageddon, but it will need sharper momentum next time to fully justify the long runway to Marvel’s summer event. Read Full Review

Overall, WOLVERINE’s event lead-in has an interesting start, cool set-up & great art. We’ll see where we go from here. Keep reading and hopefully we don’t get swept up in the changes of ARMAGEDDON too soon. Read Full Review

Chip Zdarsky is putting some interesting pieces on the board as the road to Armageddon kicks off. If this first issue of the first tie-in is anything to go on, Wolverine is going to have a huge role in things going forward. While it could have been a more welcoming number one issue, it does a good job of setting the table for what is to come. Read Full Review

Weird Science Marvel Comics - mrgabehernandez

    Feb 18, 2026

Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon #1 reads like a solid briefing document for an event rather than a thrilling opening chapter, carefully laying track while muting the fireworks. If you are deeply invested in Wolverine’s ongoing trauma, multiversal artifacts, and the slow burn setup of Armageddon, this issue reliably does the homework and sprinkles in enough menace to justify a cautious purchase. If you prefer your number ones to hit hard with action, bold stylistic swings, or instantly iconic moments, this debut will likely feel too reserved and dialogue heavy to earn a guaranteed slot in a tight pull list.
