This Venom book is bleak and intelligent at it's foremost with a comedy that pops in here and there, but is not the focus of the precious time of such a precious character. Venom #10 does the rare thing for legacy superheroes and continues to evolve their powers and identity. That's exciting stuff, which is depicted well through the multiple Symbiotes that are like slivers of Venom's personality depicted via monsters. Venom #10 picks up where the last issue left off and delivers revelation after brutal revelation. The comic establishes the connections between Eddie Brock, Bedlam, and Meridius in a way that loops back to the previous issues done by Al Ewing and feeds into the overarching story. First let me pick my jaw up off the ground after being absolutely blown away by this book!!! Wow! I cannot believe how much they are expanding a character who've I've always loved into so much more than I ever could've imagined. Honestly this arc and this issue in particular might be my favorite venom stories ever. The artwork made me say wow out loud multiple times. This is absolutely brilliant!!

This was absolutely incredible. Ewing is killing it right now and I can't believe I'm enjoying a Venom book this much (See my review of the first issue for my feelings towards Venom before reading this series if you're interested; it's nothing crazy but it makes that last sentence make a little more sense). Eddie going through different points in time that we've already seen in order to give added context to the story was seen in the last issue and it was really cool. However, it's taken to an entirely new level here with the reveal that Eddie is the symbiote who was attacked by Bedlam in Issue 5. Man, this was just outstanding and I really hope this quality continues with the next issue.

Although the big twist isn't all that surprising (#9 *heavily* foreshadowed it), it's so well-reasoned in every detail that it's thoroughly satisfying. It's also elevated by some brilliant art -- not just well-polished, but also wonderfully expressive as Eddie sinks into despair.
