But Why Tho? - Aaron Phillips
Jan 06, 2021After the lull of the prior issue, the energy has been injected back in to the Venom series. The ending was just, chefs kiss, as Cates continues to pull from the back catalogue of Venom's vast history. Eddie refuses to go down without a fight, and he's back as the lovable anti-hero we just can't help but want to root for no matter his past. Read Full Review

Comics: The Gathering - Nick Devonald
Jan 06, 2021Another outstanding issue in an incredible run on Venom, essential reading for the King In Black event and for Marvel fans at large. Cates continues to expand and explore the Venom mythology and fans will love the direction he’s taking in this issue, with both Venom and Brock, as well as the overall symbiote mythology. And as if excellent storytelling wasn’t enough we have fantastic art from Coello and Aburtov. Read Full Review

Jan 06, 2021Cates, Coello, Aburtov, and Cowles have become the Super Friends when it comes to Venom. Ive talked about my undying love for this team on numerous occasions and it never gets old. How can it! Issue after issue it is one badass plot after another. Their efforts have become a thrill ride into Venom lore and will be continually talked about in comic circles for decades to come. Jan 07, 2021Venom #32 is Coello's best work on the Cates Venom run, and it's really not all that close. Read Full Review

Horror DNA - James Ferguson
Jan 16, 2021Venom is serving as a perfect complement to King in Black, which makes total sense, as they're written by the same guy and linked up story-wise. This is the quieter part of the big action seen on the planet's surface. It uses that event as a way to further Eddie Brock's story and the overall mythos around him in some pretty awesome ways. Plus, it has a fantastic cliffhanger that fans will absolutely eat up. Read Full Review

Weird Science Marvel Comics - wolfcypher
Jan 06, 2021One of the few tie-ins of King in Black I actually liked, yet still it just doesn't really take us anywhere in the overall grand story. We get to see what our "dead" hero is experiencing out-of-body, and several pages of amazing art later, our hero may have a plan. A much better tie-in than the previous Venom issue, but still not enough "oomph" for what should be the most important book orbiting the Knull event. Read Full Review

As Cates did with AC, these Venom tie-ins are well worth the wait and money. This was great.

Having read this issue, last issue makes a lot more sense in hindsight. It's really cool to see some older threads coming back into play here.

I liked this one. It felt dire. It felt important and I likes the idea they are sticking to what happened at the end of king in black 2 for now instead of just having Eddie back to being ok quickly.

Yes these tie-ins are much slower and decompressed than the main story, but damn they're nice to read. Especially with that last page.

Eddie finds himself talking to Rex in a unique afterlife, inside the symbiotes' hive mind. At first, Eddie won't listen. Once he does, he won't accept Rex's conclusions. He's got a crazy, desperate plan -- and that might be just what it takes to turn the tide against Knull. This issue is short on plot development and the art, though finely-polished, struggles to convey some of the abstract stuff going on here. But the character work on Eddie is outstanding.

Venom Volume: 4, Issue: 32 "The Other Side" Publisher: Marvel @marvel Writer: Donny Cates @dcates Artist: Iban Coello @coelloiban Colors: Jesus Aburtov @aburtov Letters: Clayton Cowles Cover: Iban Coello & Jesus Aburtov Colliding with the Earth below, Eddie separates from his physical body and finds himself inside the Hive of all ensnared by Knull. A ghost of himself, Eddie is joined by former host, Rex, as his "tour guide" to this strange afterlife. Determined to return to the physical world, Eddie sets out to find his other half. An interesting premise, only just picking it up due to the tie-in. Eager to see how Eddie claws his way back from death and gets his symbiote back. This was pure setup. I'm ready to see some action.
