Much ofUncanny X-Men has been building up to this issue. The Outliers are confident in their powers, and their secrets are slowly being unveiled, while the core adult X-Men team have fully accepted their role as mutant teachers, and are eager to continue the X-Legacy. Establishing the history of mutantkind both in New Orleans and Haven House gives more weight to the comic's setting, and perhaps permanently changes the lore of the X-Men at Marvel Comics. This issue was a solid conclusion from Gail Simone (with some valid critiques around plot) and outstanding art from David Marquez and Matthew Wilson. The storyline wraps up well enough and I hope the symbolism of “X” takes on greater importance across the books because separate it from Xavier is probably one of the best things that can done after so many complicated years of storytelling with him. There are a lot of things going on in this book and with a big cast of adults and kids, a lot of them get lost along the way since you have to focus on the guest characters for the arc. It's solidly put together with some good action, great artwork, and some strong moments on the color design, considering how much darkness there is here in both setting and costumes. It's enjoyable, but the lasting impact is going to be from a few words more than anything else, I suspect. Read Full Review

This was a great small scale X-Men story, with good moments for the new kids as well as the adult X-Men. The art was amazing, the writing was great and the story was interesting and fresh. I'm very much enjoying the back-to-the-basics approach to the From the Ashes era we're currently in and the two main X-books have been impeccable. No need to rush to the next big event, lets keep building the new characters and situations in smaller stuff like this for a while please.

Although i didn't like the ending either, i felt this was one of the strongest issues in terms of sense of memberhip in the X-family and in the urgency for a safe haven. I enjoyed it.

I think Simone's been doing a great job with the characters and making me care about the new kids but this conclusion for the dark artery arc was a dud. Too many ideas that were just all over the place without successfully connecting with any feeling or meaning.

I have enjoyed the last few issues of Uncanny X-Men, but after reading the finale of Dark Artery, I have to say that this storyline wasn't the creepy horror tale that I anticipated. What we got instead was a lot of talk, talk and more talk, and in the end... nothing. I did enjoy the Marquez art though.

I like Gail and I like her new mutants and I like the social commentary she’s inserted into this book. But I did not like this ending to the major story arc. All of the talk and action in this ended up feeling too incoherent for my taste. I like what Gail was going for in this arc, but I don’t think it really stuck the landing.
