You Don't Read Comics - Christopher Landers
Sep 25, 2018All in all, this was a pretty flawless issue. Even if youre not a big fan of the Old Thor stories, this one is the one to read. Even if you thought Wolverine as the Phoenix was a goofy concept, give it a shot. Its not played for laughs. This is a deadly serious story, and both characters are written exceptionally well. This is, by far, one of Aarons best issues of Thor so far. If youre not currently reading this book, you should at least give this one a try. Read Full Review

Black Nerd Problems - Oz Longworth
Sep 21, 2018As we move closer to the end of Aaron's stellar run, the momentum has not stopped for a single issue. These are the kinds of over the top god-mode battles that comic book fandom are made of. That's what a Thor book can be, should be and is thanks to an incredible creative team. Read Full Review

Comicsverse - AJ Zender
Sep 21, 2018THOR #5 succeeds best in its incredible action sequence and stunning visuals by artist Christian Ward. Despite a powerful opening section and a beautiful look at the nature of age and death, this issue does suffer from a lack of characterization and context. Read Full Review

Comic Watch - Bethany W Pope
Sep 27, 2018This issue balances action-packed adventure, meditative philosophy, and some very well-done humor, creating a story that is trippy and fun, with just a hint of melancholy running through it. Pick it up. Read Full Review

ComicBook.com - Chase Magnett
Sep 19, 2018This is a perfect blend of the heavy metal style that defined the start of Jason Aaron's run and something appropriately epic as it approaches its end. Most importantly, it is a whole lot of fun to read and re-read. Read Full Review

The Super Powered Fancast - Deron Generally
Sep 19, 2018The ending makes up for a lot of the weak points in the plot and what Aaron has introduced might be exactly what is needed to inject something interesting story-wise into this arc. Read Full Review

Weird Science - Branden Murray
Sep 24, 2018Jason Aaron brings some interesting concepts to the table in his continuing efforts addressing Thor's future eons from now. Guest artist Christian Ward is a relief on art duties, and as a whole I'm excited this resumes next issue, but wonder how newcomers to Thor will take this break from the War of Realms so soon.
