The most honest review I can give this book is to simply say it's Star Wars. It looks like Star Wars and it feels like Star Wars but with a completely new batch of characters who are instantly winning over the audience. Star Wars: The High Republic works on two levels. The first is the overarching story between Keeve and Sskeer. The mystery there is enough to keep readers coming back to see how that unfolds. The second level is the world. The High Republic comic is giving us a great look at the Jedi of that time, how they operate, and what kind of dangers they face. I especially love the Jedi twins, Ceret and Terec, and their empathic connection. I hope this means that we will get a good variety of different Jedi races like them as the series progress. Let's also hope that will see more of what the rest of the galaxy, worlds, and governments look like with the Jedi in power. Read Full Review

Now that the characters are set into motion on their own adventures, the plot is sure to start moving ahead at a good pace. There are still a lot of unknowns at play here, but none less intriguing than Sskeers very un-Jedi approach to his last mission. Scott and Anindito, in many ways, accomplish here what the first issue should have done. There was lots of mystery and intriguing elements while introducing new things to the franchise. I've been excited for the High Republic era in general and while I expect that we'll see touches of some of the bigger storylines carrying through the comics, this opening arc should be an interesting exploration of some of what motivates the Nihil or something else as yet revealed. Cavan Scott's script feels a lot better this time around with what it's doing in moving things forward and having to deal less with introducing a lot of things at once like the first issue had to. I like Trennis more than I did before and the introduction of Ceret and Terec has me grinning stupidly. I'm even warming up to Sskeer a lot more than I expected to. It's a really good entry that gives me more hope for what's to come from the team across the board. Read Full Review

The comic certainly delivers on telling a story about Jedi Master Sskeer and tries to show off Star Wars newest High Republic villains the Nihil with teases for the Drengir. However, they dont come across as big galactic threats yet, just random foes for the Jedi to deal with. I would only recommend this comic if youre interested in the new High Republic era and want to see a glimpse of what the new villains are like. Read Full Review

I really enjoyed this issue and the first one. What makes the story more enjoyable for me is that I have already read the book The High Republic: Light of the Jedi, which gives back story to much of the characters like Avar Kriss, Sskeer and others like Chancellor Soh, so there is a sense of familiarity for me. I also liked how the battle of Kur was referenced from Sskeer's past, which again was described in detail in The Light of the Jedi. I hope they include The Eye Marchion Ro, Pan Eyda and Lourna Dee from the Nihl as I was a fan of the characters from the book!

Star Wars High Republic edition 2 is more exciting than the first for so many reasons and I will name some reasons why you should give this comic a try. Starting with the newest part and most unique, The Kotabi Identical twins Ceret and Terec, though they are twins they both hold their own and have their own importance in the story, and from front to end Cavan Scott does an amazing job in their independence. Continuing with the story, they go from a planet overruled by insects and small creatures as they were in the first edition of The High Republic to a ship they had caught on the radar of StarLight Beacon, this ship was filled with toxic gas, making things very dangerous for newly crowned Jedi Knight Keeve Trennis, Master Sskeer and the kotabi twins Terec and Ceret. Though this group is plenty familiar with dealing with trouble, this time will be their most challenging mission yet. Having to let Marshall Kriss everything that happens in the ship, master sskeer is attacked by a hunter that had boarded the ship, all this info goes through Marshall Kriss, the good and bad, making it difficult to deal with what they might be running into. As Keeve and the others arrive at StarLight unharmed but on alert. Marshall gives out a mission to Master Sskeer and Jedi Ceret , keeve does not like this due to the fact she wants to travel with her master, Keeve Pleads her case to Marshall but nothing has changed soon after Master Sskeer and Ceret depart, Terec, who is connected with Ceret in a telekinetic way he feels that Ceret is in trouble, Master Sskeer soon figures out that he is missing and has no idea where he might be, knowing he has walked into trouble he sees there is a hooded figure standing across in a crop field. Now my personal opinion on this comic, it really sets up a plot change going into the next edition of the series, I really hope that Cavan Scott can bring in some more Yoda, knowing he is on StarLight Beacon at the beginning and I hope they can continue the excitement of a new era of star wars. Newly appointed Jedi Knight Keeve is now on her first mission with her former Master Sskeer and other new teammates are investigating a distress signal. Upon arrival to the location, they discover a ship adrift in space, the crew brutally slaughtered and its cargo stolen. Now they must uncover the mystery as to why this happened. Not only does Keeve have to focus on her mission, but she also must overcome her insecurity in the face of new teammates. While she also grows worried b y Sskeer's changed behavior. As of right now, this series is one of my favorite ongoing series. The new Star Wars era really has caught my attention with its plot and new characters. I enjoy reading Keeve’s inner monologue throughout the issue as it helps me connect with the character. It’ll be great to see her grow as a Jedi as this series continues on. I need to know what’s going on with Master Sskeer! He’s behavior in the first two issues is definitely noticeable and clearly going to be a focal point going forward. I enjoyed the flashbacks that led to Sskeer’s injury. I loved seeing the Hutts involved and seeing the corpse of a Hutt was something I didn’t expect. So far we are two issues in and I’m hooked. This well written issue is complemented with great artwork and I look forward to further reading this series and learning more about this era. There we go, this one was just so much better than the previous issue. Loving the ongoing mystery and the overall story, hopefully this will only keep improving.
