When all is said and done, Spider-Woman #9 delivers a lot of bang within its pages. While I felt it got a little too busy with plot reveals at times, it nonetheless delivers some great character-driven moments and ends its time with a story beat that has me eager to see what comes next. Jessica Drew's journey has been absolutely crazy and it's only getting moreso as she faces off against the High Evolutionary and an army of clones of her mother. Will she find answers and a cure for her condition? She's going to have to punch a lot of people first as these amazing adventure continues. Read Full Review

This series has been improving over time to the point where I have added it to my pull list. With this book being the penultimate issue of this arc, it is going to be interesting to see what Pacheco has planned next for Jess. But let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet. Read Full Review

Spider-Woman Volume: 7, Issue: 8 Publisher: Marvel @marvel Writer: Karla Pacheco @thekarlapacheco Artist: Pere Pérez @pereperezart Colors: Frank D’Armata @fgdcolor Letters: Travis Lanham Cover: Jung-Geon Yoon @junggeun_yoon Feeling a sense of debt to the late Miriam Drew, the High Evolutionary, along with Octavia Vermis and her daughter, Ophelia, have finally produced a cure for Jessica’s condition. Upon the device's activation, Octavia betrays the High Evolutionary and plunges her staff through his back, with the intention to sell the cure to Marchand. Chaos ensues and Jessica finds herself overwhelmed by a horde of Miriam clones while Ophelia, shocked at her mother’s actions, fights her mother. Jessica accidentally fal ls through the activated device and is unable to stop Octavia from snapping her own daughter's neck. Damn, Octavia is evil. I have suspicions that Ophelia was a clone, but that doesn’t change what just happened. I'm super curious what effects falling through the device will have on Jessica. The artwork in this entire series is probably my favorite in comics right now. The facial expressions are perfect. Pere Pérez does amazing work. The High Evolutionary provides a cure for Jessica's sickness, but there's plenty of fighting thanks to a sudden yet inevitable betrayal. I'm not at all clear on the reasoning behind the various plot developments, but it's fun and exciting to read. Pere Pérez's art is terrific; I like this rendition of "mature women in brutal combat" a lot more than #5's.
