Spider-Woman #6

This crossover does the sort of thing that crossovers might have been intended to do when the Marvel Universe was created back in the 1960s. The sudden appearance of Carol Danvers not only adds to the appeal of Jessica, but it also makes Danvers seem that much more interesting to anyone who might not be reading Captain Marvel right now. It would be fun to see Pacheco and Prez work together on a Spider-Woman/Captain Marvel series, but it would be just as fun to see what the two of them could do with a run on Captain Marvel.  Read Full Review

Spider-Woman #6 sets up a different kind of hero who is very angry, a bit unhinged, and perfectly within her right to be so on some level. She's also losing control due to a serum that powers her up as Pacheco and Perez play with a potential addiction subplot on their hands. When it all comes together, Spider-Woman #6 delivers a strong emotional story even if it is narratively a little weak. Jessicas struggle to cure herself while also trying to protect those she cares for from herself is relatable at its core. Combined with a solid artistic presentation, and you have a well-done issue. It seems odd to declare an issue with this much action as a bit of a breather, but it is. It gives us a chance to appreciate more deeply the extreme pressure Jess has been under since the beginning of this run. It’s also fun to see tension build between Carol and Jess in a way that freaks Carol out, the stakes become higher and suggests a welcome unpredictability in their dynamic. Great stuff.

Loved the Carol and Jess team up but underneath it all we see how much worse Jessica is getting. This issue didn't quite move the plot anywhere, since we're setting up for King in Black, but it was still an excellent book. Carol and Jess dunking on Tony is always a great time XD

Jess clobbers her way through space looking for the High Evolutionary. Captain Marvel accompanies her, but Jess is too hopped up to really hear her "you need to get off the Marchand goof-juice" concerns. I think an intervention is called for. This was a fun issue, and the art is stellar. But the plot/character work is pretty repetitive, holding the issue down to good, not great.

Was interested in seeing Jessica and Carol's interation, hoping it would be fun, but wow, that was unbearable. I don't care if there's a story reason as to why she's being so shitty. She was already like that in the first issues. This just made me think their friendship is terrible. For a story written by a woman, it definitely looks like 2 male characters Hate seeing superhumans beating ordinary people for no reason as well. Always gives me fascist vibes. Also the destroying/stealing Tony's ship bit was bad.
